On the other hand, he could have been on a school there earlier in the day or the day before and was waiting to check it out again... After all it is Fork, no such thing as a place to yourself!! No such thing as a place to yourself on any of our lakes. I fish certain places at certain times of the year and sometimes other people beat me to it so I have to go elsewhere. I have no grand illusions of "owning" any spot on the lake even if I have improved it for my own fishing pleasure. Some fishermen get a little to possessive of "their" fishing holes and that ranges from weekenders to the Elite Pros! I was watching a FLW tourney a few weeks back and they were fishing 30' or so water and there were 15-20 boats fishing within a 100 yards or so. BigDozer66

Feels like winter in here, got a bunch of people that need to go fishing...
Regardless, I think it is pretty low to sit on you until you leave then fish your hole. Nothing illegal about it, but is that what fishing has come to? Odd. it aint his hole... its mine, yours, his and the other guys... it was his til he left. Lake Fork aint a private lake last time I checked. He got 100-200 yards away. He prolly fished there before. When you fish a spot day after day you get a feeling for who fishes it and who doesn't. I don't care if it is a public lake or not, hole sitting someone is a f'ed up deal. No different than people that stalk guides and play the waypoint game.

Had another one yesterday. Going down a stretch of the lake with a hand held gps in his hands he swooped in close to ever boat he passed and punched his buttons and kept idling to the next. I guess he just knew about everything already too, in which case he just wanted t idle through and tick people off. I think too many people are naive to how many people really do just pull over just bc you are there. Especially the ones acting like somebody claims they own the lake. My experience most people who so quickly defend the behavior mentioned most likely do it.

I dont do it...and I dont like it when folks are on one of "my" spots either. But I dont like fishing near anyone anyways.... ever.

Let me make sure I understand this... you were fishing a spot on the lake and this individual was staying 100 to 200 yards away while you fished it. You then leave and proceeds to the spot. Can somebody advise me when public lakes became so private?
If you were there and he comes over and throws right on top of you, you would have a legitimate gripe... at least ethically.
What if you were fishing a stretch of bank and he was trailing you by 100 to 200 yards? At some point he's going to end up where you were fishing eventually.
Maybe its just me, but giving a man a spot all to himself (with 200 yards worth of breathing room) sounds pretty damn reasonable to me. If you ever TRULY get cut off, you might as well quit fishing because I doubt you'll be able to recover. this +1 yes this.

BigDozer66 This too.........That's why I hunt and fish mostly during the weekdays......I don't have to deal with hole or spot claimers and I can pretty much fish or hunt anywhere I want anytime I want. If you are trapped into having to fish on the weekends; especially on Fork, try fishing some places you have never seen people fish, you never know when that next Operation Share a Lunker or state record fish might be lurking there to get away from all of the pressure. There used to be a lot of deep spots on that lake that I know got over looked. I plan on breaking myself in on drop shot fishing as soon as I can get a rig under my butt........

No reason to get that close these days.....pocklicking can be done from 500 yards away with 2 pieces of equipment that most of US already have......you give up a spot and never even know it.
It can be done from over a mile with radar.....

If this guy fishes that spot regularly, and he was just waiting his turn to fish the spot, that's not bad. If the guy only stopped because you were there, then that's lame. Only the guy in the triton really knows.
I know there have been times that I've gone to a spot only to see someone there. Sometimes I'll stop at another spot within sight, so I can hit the spot when the other boat leaves. Other times, I'll go down the bank a ways and work my way to the prime spot, so I'm not stopping right on top of the other boat--by the time I get to the prime spot, the other boat has usually moved on. I don't like to fish too close to other boats.
