Did Bill go straight 30 lb big game mono on a pistol grip?

20# fluoro on jigs and soft plastics for offshore stuff. 50# braid on Carolina rigs with a 20# leader. I don't have many line breaking issues. I don't really fish shallow down there tho. When I do I'll use 65# braid on my flipping set up

I was waiting for the pistol grip to come out but Bill was too busy falling off the back deck. He's still complaining about sore ribs a week later. When are you going to invite me fishing? Oh, do you still have my battery charger or is it back with Roy?

I use braid on my falcon bucoo... with off color water... if your fishing clear water- I wouldn't go with braid....

I'm still looking for a good brand of fluorocarbon... got short stroked on a spinnerbait and had 20 lb. line broke...

I tie direct when using worms, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, etc.

I can't remember the brand I tried last time but didn't like it... tangled easy and got my line broke a few times...

I use briad everytime I go to Falcon and kill them on it. I had my heart broken 3 yrs ago and said never again. It's not worth breaking off a monster or fish of a lifetime because you wanted a few more bites. I use briad on every rod when I go down there even the crank baits.

Two years ago I relocated to Zapata to fish Falcon. I flip and pitch off colored water with 65 lb power pro. Fly line flukes on 80 lb power pro in the tree tops. Also pitch with 30 lb Maxima ultra green when the water is clear. I use a little trick to steam the last 20 feet of my 30 lb Maxima to keep it limp for spool control and to slink over sticks and such.
It didnt take two years to learn what WILL happen to you if you fish Falcon every day with light line!

I fish braid everywhere but I use a fluorocarbon leader. Whether I am fishing from 1 to 65 feet braid is the only way to go.

Just remember it's not about the fish but they sure are fun to catch. Jesus is the reason I live because He died for me,so I now live for Him

20 lb fluoro for everything except tight quarter full contact war. Then its pure rope for me. I actually did well cranking 16 fluoro, but make sure you use quality fluoro.

Anything besides cranking and footballs I use braid. Way too many instances without having braid the toads would have not been in the boat. We caught 10 fish over 7 out of one bush on braid last time, and those babies had us all kinds of wrapped up in there, I am afraid fluoro would have been no bueno.

I was on a flipping bite down there a month ago and actually kept track of my bites per hour. With braid it was about 1 per 45 min. Mid day 2 picked up a rod with fluoro and it went to about 3 per hr, maybe a little more.

Granted this was post front so maybe they were more finicky than normal, if ever, down there.

Only had one fish break me and that was 10 min til weigh in in the big hardwoods on the river edge above the colondrina and I got lazy and didn't re-tie for about 5 fish, he wrapped me, I pulled back and it popped.

Oh, and you could use braid all day long in the pre-craze days down there and it didn't make a damn bit of difference. I don't think some of the fish had ever seen a bait. Nowadays it's different, that I can tell. And with the lake getting vastly smaller, the fish are getting a good schooling.

Ouch. Sounds painful but prob funny too. I'd invite you fishing but I'm still steamed about the year I beat Roy in the office pool big buck contest (witha 15" handicap) and my prize was supposedly a fishing trip at the coast. Roy said he would love to take me but you said no.

I gave your charger back to roy about 2 1/2 years ago. But I do need to borrow it again, if possible.
