I guess this pattern will be the same for all ozone days since they are just about all zero wind days

Jig, finess or topwater. Bug close to cover. I love a dead calm day.

Seriously, if you are new to fishing, a slick calm day with bluebird sky is rough. Usually the best fishing days are the ones that's the roughest on you such as, storms,snowing/sleeting,windy banks etc. Like alot of guys already said on here, something with a slow fall/erratic retrieve. If your in a tourney it frustrating because you want to fish faster. If I can I fish mainly points and super shallow because usually if you get a fish super shallow he is willing to bite.

If you're on Ivie and it becomes dead calm, go to the room and throw a hamburger patty on the grill. Then, get a Jack Daniels and 7Up, sit back and rest for the next day. Ivie is dead when it gets absolutely calm. Seriously though, a shakey head or whacky rig, fished extremely slow on ledges or offshore humps with super light line.

Spook, no rattles. Edge of grass lines or on points.

It's May in Texas. Where is this dead slick water you speak of? I don't think I've ever fished with it slick (maybe TB a couple of times).

It's May in Texas. Where is this dead slick water you speak of? I don't think I've ever fished with it slick (maybe TB a couple of times). My favorite time on the water allways has been either very early in the morning or very late in the day in late summer /early fall. I used to get drug out on the water alot (salt and fresh) when I was young because of my families profession so I got comfortable with running in the dark early. If you are in the right spot/w the right conditions just before sunrise, these calm slick conditions can occur. There is plenty of water on Pines, Sam and TB to find it if your early enough to find it, many others to I'm sure. It may last an hour it may last 5 minutes or it may not happen at all. When it is calm and quiet I like to be calm and quiet as well. Smaller baits, quiet entries and slower presentations are key for me and my style of fishing mid to shallow cover 0-12 ft. If I'm gonna go deeper I usually do so a little later and after the lake has woken up.

I bust out the ultra-light !...it's a 5 foot buggy whip of a rod with a small Phluger spinning reel loaded with 4lb test...I tie on a small 1/8th oz ball head jig and either a 4" worm or a Zoom Fat Albert grub and head for the bridge pile'ins - it's great because something will always bite it and even if it's small it still gives a good fight, I've landed bass up to 6lbs and catfish in the 'teen's on this light equipment...it's best to keep a net handy.
