hahaha no bow and arrow for me. I really enjoy targeting them and catching them rod and reel. They are actually very fun to catch and not a problem to land if you have a heavy duty set of gloves. you wouldn't believe the fight they put up! jumping, tailwalking and smoking out drag, they are awesome! you should give it a try sometime. I can guarantee you will have a great time. I catch and release these big guys.

PM me if you want to know a lake in texas that is over run with big gar, they are everywhere. But you have to rod and reel fish them, box fishing is illegal in this lake..

I have caught a fair number while catfishing or crappie fishing. They are fun to catch. Not much is more fun than arrowing these dudes though!

Thanks for posting this. I caught a 60 in Longnose gar at Tradinghouse back in 2002 using 14 Ib test line and it put one heck of a fight. It to was safely released. I hope peoples attitudes would change toward these fish, they aren't want think they are!
