Rack? we don't need no stinkin' rack.. Pool noodles and straps on my Versa. It just so happens that the shape of the yak conforms to the shape of the top of the Versa. I do use more noodle now to go nearly all the way around the crowling of the yak but the straps are the same.

I too have the sea wing on my jeep Cherokee. A must if you want to load a 60 lbs yak by yourself. My Grand Cherokee has the flat shaped cross bars and I use a large pool noodle with a slit cut down one entire side and it slips over the flat bar snug. I have one for each bar and then just place the kayak on top of the padded bars and tie it down. I also use an old blanket that I drap over the roof and side that I'm loading the kayak onto and lift the bow of the kayak and lay it on the roof with the stern on the ground. I then walk to the stern and lift and walk toward the back of the jeep and push the kayak onto the front bar and rest the back on the rear bar. Grab the blanket and fold it, and throw it into the back seat so it's there when I get ready to unload it. Only takes a few seconds to load and no heavy lifting.
Just one more cast!

I have a Corolla and I use the Yakima foam block system directly on my roof top. From years of use, there are dings here and there, but nothing severe. Looks like mild hail damage.

I took one of the thick pool noodles and put a rope through it, and tied the ends together to make a circle. Then slide it over the end of the yak. Repeat for the other end. I secure 4 points (2 front and 2 back), plus a strap across the middle. This is how my son does his 13' yak on his Mustang too.
