I would think that the GW would have to see the act to ticket you OR get a confession

Does the no wake zone apply when you are in the bouys only? I've run along bridges on fork and have seen lots of guys do it as well. Hopefully I haven't crossed any lines.

As a JP if there were not bouys there is no notice and there fore no prosecution supported. Now that don,t mean they can't write it, they just would'nt have a proper case.

I know it doesn't sound fair,,but,,texas regulations state " it is up to each individual to know the regulations and restrictions for the body of water they are on" doesn't mean you will get a ticket,,but they can give you one if they choose. GW told me" ignorance is no excuse" just passing on the info I have been given by TPWD.

That is what the OP is asking. Is there some place that it is published. If it is published or posted then they can write a citation without buoys being present. In Oklahoma it is a statewide law that all bridges are No Wake Zones. They do not waste taxpayers money placing buoys at every bridge on both sides of it. Kind of the same principle of No Wake withing 150' of the shore. Could you imagine having to place buoys around the entire lake of all lakes in the state.

How are you supposed to know the regulation if they aren't posted?

Would not work in my court unless it was an area that is posted on all lakes like the dams or water intakes or notification would have to be present.
That said you would have to contest the ticket.

I live in Ledbetter Cove, last year there were buoys, this year none. I was fishing along the bank, earlier this week, talking to another boat idiling by (about 25-30 yards away) when 2 guys on plane run between us! I guess there is no accounting for stupidity!!! Wish I'd had that 1oz. Trap tied on, would have finally gotten some use out of it!!

Fishing is not a matter of life or death,
it's much more important than that!

It was like Solider Creek on Texoma last spring. The "no wake" buoy was gone. We treated it as if there was never a buoy there. They can't write you up if it isn't marked.

Am I wrong, but does'nt a boat on plane create a smaller wake than a slower moving boat.If that is the case, then why is that the law.

Because some areas are not safe at high rates of speed. Some areas are posted no wake to protect personal property, but some are there to protect safety.

Why would you need a 1 oz trap. If they was only 12 1/2 to 15 yards away, you could have hit them with a 1/8 crappie jig.
