It's a great series. I fished as a coangler for 4 years before going to the boater side. Great learning experience!

The reasoning behind the 3 fish limit is that it's easier on the coangler to try and get 3 fish for a limit instead of 5. Some of these boaters are like vacuum cleaners and catch everything before you get a chance. This just evens the field a little. The skill comes into play by culling. Remember, it's the 3 biggest not the first person with 3 fish. One lucky fish doesn't trump 3 big fish. Skill will always rise to the top, just ask Fishkiller, he brought coangling to a whole new level for a while.

What would be the maximum number of rods you would bring as a co-angler?

Personally 6. Biggest thing is whatever you bring make sure its not crowding the boat and that you can be ready to move in a hurry. Don't want to cost your boater fishing time because he's always having to wait on you to move

I have just fished a couple of these but I will say I agree they are well ran tournaments. Great place for someone who loves to tournament fish but doesn't have a boat or wants to learn more.

I know its a BASS rule, an think it's more about fish care than being easier for the Co. 8 fish in a live well will have a better chance of survival than 10. I think they change it right after the Falcon tournament, when many died. IMO

The livewels are also shrinking on boats , they are starting to get ridiculously small.

I looked at a particular boat brand this weekend and thought to my self, "there is no dang way a 50+ lb sack at falcon would fit in here and survive to be weighed in and released healthy"

told the salesman, it was an absolute deal breaker..

So you recommend 6 rods. what about tackle? what is the best and easiest way to have your tackle and how much of that would you say to bring? i undestand totally be ready to move wenever the boaters ready to go and i dont want to crowd his boat up and weigh it down so what would you all think?

a medium size bag, with a box or two of cranks, assorted types, a few spinnerbaits, and plastics should do you. When you get your boater, he will let you know what he is throwing and you can pack accordingly, dont forget your non boater fee to him, courtesy is the key, enjoy the tour

They are short coanglers. So I would shoot Denise a pm and she can get you hooked up
