Anyone fished the bassmasters weekend series as a co-angler? How is it what is there to expect?

It's a good time. The only down side is that the co-angler only gets to weigh in 3 fish vs the normal 5.

In my opinion, this lets more people in the game with a 3 fish limit and someone who happens to catch a big fish vs. working to get a 5 fish limit.

Ya the 3 fish limit sounds like a better competition then getting the 5 like normal.
im going to try the sam rayburn one this weekend i fished there about a year and half ago and it was a fun lake.

I'm not a fan of the 3 fish limit. It allows someone to get lucky and get one big fish even if they are not able to put a 5 fish limit together. Just my opinion..

But, it is an equal playing field... Just dont get the 3 fish limits

Come on out and join us on the east Texas side, this is my first year and I love it ! You meet a lot of good guys and get to learn the lakes. You have to fish it with an open mind set because every pro you draw fishes a diffrent way and you have to take that and catch three fish. Over all it's worth it to fish them and Denise and Porter run a great tournament.

You guys are awesome!!!! Tattednfishing ... you'll have a blast. Every tournament is a new experience. You're w/ a different angler each time & hopefully learning from that angler new tricks & techniques, and you're fishing a different area each time. Rarely (but occasionally)there's an angler that might make your experience an unpleasant one, but that's rare. You're for sure to make new friends, learn more about bass fishing & lakes, and hopefully get a paycheck!!! (We'll be over 100 boats this weekend on Sam Rayburn, which means 1st place has a guarantee of $2,500 for the co-angler & $5,000 for the boater). Hey Denise,

Any insight on the thought process behind only allowing a 3 fish limit for the co-angler? Just curious

Thank You

Why is the guy who catches a big fish lucky but you and your three are skill?

Didnt really mean he is lucky.... But in most cases it is more difficult to put a 5 fish limit together than happen to stumble across 1 big fish.

Like I said, it is an equal playing field but IMO it is a better test of skills to put a 5 fish limit together than catch one big fish. Thats why I don't fish big fish tournamnets(1 fish limit in a sense)

Although, there is always luck involved to a certain extent, I prefer trying to put a good limit together and being rewarded for it.

Just my own personal preference

you can stumble across a big fish anytime..3 or 5 fish limit doesnt matter..its all even for everyone. also,as a co angler you must fish with new people each time and fish there way...even 3 fish big enough to weigh in can be a challenge. i like the idea myself and denise and porter have a great thing going. i really enjoy it and sometimes fish with someone that does things i wouldnt do...but,in the long run i feel i will be a better angler and learn new techniques and also what not to do,etc.

also,im used to fishing team tournaments where the both guys put there best 5 fish to make a good sack..so far not many anglers have weighd in 5 fish in the first 2 events.and also few co anglers have weighed in 3 in the first 2 events..the weather has been a factor with cold fronts . so again another good reason for 3 fish ..imo
