Why not just put a waterproof speaker on your trolling motor and download a shad feeding sound and put it on a cd in your boat and blast it...???!!! sounds like it would work.... .... ... .. .

I know that alot of you have high dollar boats, motors and rods and reels plus three to four thousand dollar fish finders, four thousand dollars for power poles and a five hundred dollar unit is a problem, give me a break. I live on SS I run two eagle cuda, use ungly stick rods, I have a 96 Javlin that I bought used and haft to justfy to my wife every dime I spend on my fishing. I will wait for some ceap knock-off to come out.

True, not a fair comparison. However, I know several fellow fishermen that would spend $200-$225 on a rod or reel, myself included, but hesitate when it creeps up on $300, i.e. when the REVO MGX came out, it was all the hype, but people cringed at the $350 Price tag (at least the guys I run with). Now, I have a computer engineering degree that focused on hardware design and used to run an IT company before I came back into the Army and I understand you make most of your money on residual sales, after recouping initial investment for software design, hardware manufacturing, bringing to market, etc.... I guess what Im saying is, if the Hydrowave was closer to $225-$240, there would be a lot less hesitation to buy, IMO therefore increasing overall sales, increasing brand awareness/adverstisment through word of mouth, and reaching a bigger demographic through a slightly lower price point. Again, just my .02 based upon how fast I would buy one if it was a little cheaper. Well Put!

I usually don't post but on this one I would like to set the record straight. I took a gamble and risked a lot of money to produce the HydroWave. When I say a gamble and a lot of money, I mean a lot. The price point on the product has many components and I attempted to produce and sell it at a very reasonable price. We laboured over it for months. I challenge any one to engineer, tool, patent, test, develop, stock, pay for long term advertising liabilities, pay royalties, market, pay yourself back the money you put in and sell a unit cheaper. The circuit board alone costs over 80 bucks. In other words, please don't expect the Wave to come down in price any time soon. I would if I could. Also, I'm not a 501-C3 Corp. Ha I'm very happy to hear that everyone is enjoying them. I can not thank ya'll enough for the support. I'm pretty sure that I shortened my life span by about 5 years from the stress over the last year. Thank you TFF members for all the kind words.

Well speaking strictly for myself, I admire what you've done Gene. It takes some serious commitment to pull off any kind of new product and bring it to market....and then hold your breath and hope it fly's. Now if I had a boat I'd put one on it in a heartbeat, no problem. But I'm a techy kind of guy and love trying new technical stuff out...it's just an additional tool in my tool box of fish catching stuff...'cause man I need all the help I can get...:)
Now get to work and invent them imaging glasses we can all wear to see where them sneaky green fish are really hiding...:)

It's called CAPITALISM fellas. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. I don't have one but more than likely will get one at some point. The fishing industry has changed dramatically over the past 20 years..the thought of $70K rigs and $5K+ electronics never entered the minds of people like my father in law who grew up fishing the Houston, TX area. I also have a good friend who used to own a boat company and they made the "Mercedes" of pontoon boats and he is shocked at how the industry has changed. Think about it...rods range from $20-$500...reels from $40-$600, individual swim baits cost as much as $100 so why is it a problem for someone to come out with a product that appears to work as advertised for $400 so he can hope to make a profit at some point. I own my own business and if you ask anyone that has ever done the same, NONE of them make a dime in the 1st year and only the rarest make a good profit in the 2nd.

I don't feel like anyone is bashing the guy, or squabbling over the price. The question was asked on page one by I'm assuming a partner or marketing rep " what do you feel is a fair/good price?" we as consumers are only responding to that question with our feelings on that matter. You are completely correct that if we don't like the price we don't have to buy it, and many of us have chosen to exercise that right. Don't get off track and turn this into a " the consumers are bashing the capitalist" quarrel.

I didn't take any offense to the comments made. I am the National Sales Manager for Hydrowave and like to actively listen to current customers, future customers, and why certain people aren't customers. I must say I think the price is more than fair when you compare it to other products within the industry. I appreciate the input and I look forward to doing business with many of you.

I don't post up here much but here goes. if any of you have ever fished for schooling striper/whites have you ever splashed your rod to simulate topwater feeding? I have and it works, it sets off a feeding reaction not all but a lot of the time. if I could afford one a hydrowave would be on my champion right now, compared to an 1198/998/898 or the same in an lowrance the price is very reasonable for the return on investment. even the 797ci that I have cost waay more than the hydrowave and while it is a great tool it has never "called" a fish to the boat. I wlll look for a return or refurbished unit before I can afford one but if I ever get the chance it will go on the boat. just an okies .05 cents worth.
