Way to go Paul I think February is your month! last year you and Mack took Livingston in February, and now this great finish. On the other hand February is my worst month. My worst finishes are in February.

A BIG Thank you to all of ya'll for your kind words. that 12.65 was my PB and the 1.98 for my BF was my PB on a certified scale. Paul O'Bier has told us in the winter there gone be on the dam in deep water on the bottom. nothing changed from LOP weather wise. he has also said look for bait balls and fish under them. I credit this to the great teachers we have at CAT.

Great tourney! Never caught a 2.64, and 2.20 in a tournament before. The 2.20 died in our live well and didn't even get to weigh her in our total wgt! Never thought a small lake like Cypress could kick out such nice fish!

I credit this to the great teachers we have at CAT. It's why I joined CAT. I haven't made it to a meeting yet but have watched every meeting in the archive. I have learned a ton but still have SO much to learn. I have really enjoyed asking questions at the weigh-ins and finding out where I went wrong. One question: After listening to Todd Huckabee talk at the Extravaganza, did anyone try to find a shallow bite? If not, why? We looked for shallow fish but were unsure of our technique so we stayed deep.

friday at bob sandlin i fished hard in 5-15' with zero luck. i even found bait as shallow as 3 feet. i like todd huckabee's take on crappie fishing, but i don't think even he could have caught 7 keepers yesterday.
i need to thank chris waters for the info on cypress. after friday at sandlin i was pretty sure we weren't going to do any good there and he said he had caught fish at the dam. after a slow start, we ended up doing pretty good.
congrats to jay don and rhonda, and brad budish and joe scott for their 1st place finishes.

We found bait up that shallow too. Fished under corks and had one cork disappear but never saw what ate it.

Thanks guys! It was a cold, wet day. Started out the day with a bucket of dead minnows and pouring rain. We had one small fish in the boat at 11:30. After that, found the right spot at the dam and caught really nice, healthy fish on our dead minnows! We hated to leave and go to the weigh in - those days don't come around very often!! We've been fishing tournaments for 4 years together and finally pulled out a win! Hope it isn't another 4 before we do it again!!

Had to prove it to my partner last year during the CENTEX tourney that dead minnows do catch fish. He never would of believed it until then. Biggest crappie I ever caught on Granger was on an old dead dried up minner that was in the bottom of the boat. 2.36 lbs. Goes to show you have to adapt and overcome.

Congratulations Rhonda & Jay Don! You always fish hard and near the top of the entry list. Now you have one win under your belts and I am sure there will be more down the road.

The cream always rises to the top eventually, great job !!!!team Reeves .!!!!!!
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
