Z-mans may be junk but I have caught many big fish on them and never had a problem. But I guess it could just be a matter of time

You have not bought any lately then. Go to Academy and pull them out of the package. Every one has a different hook and most of them have so much plating on them that you cannot sharpen them. Remember the hook on the Old Johnson Silver Minnow spoons? Just like that...

You have got to be kidding shocked Those were so dull they were not worthy of the hook name.

I think it was Stanley that made one with a weed guard prior to the broohaahaaa patent deal. Of course you can't find those anymore, or at least I can't.

Did a little research, check these out. http://www.viperlures.com/Viper-Hair-n-Rubber-Bladed-Jigs-137-VHRBJ137.htm

Look to be made heavy duty, not sure what to make of the head though.

Bobby D's Grinders. They are better than the Phenix. They have a sharp 5/0 Mustad heavy duty hook, powder coated heads and hand tied round rubber/Silicone Skirts. You guys need to try these and you won't be asking about Chatterbaits anymore..lol

The original chatterbaits before zman made them junk worked the best for me. If you hold the pheonix next to the zman you can feel the difference in the blade.

My personal fav is peppers long neck roumbler, sucker is as heavy duty as they come and will handle 5 inch swimbaits with ease.

Next time you are in the 6-Mile area of Toledo Bend pick up a couple of Texan Shakers .. Great hook (even has a model with an extended hook) and quality components...

Would it be an infringement on the patent if one of the companies that has had to stop making them started selling them in two different packages? For example, you buy the blade and clip in one package and the jig head and skirt in another package to assemble yourself.
