You can thank your wonderfull govener! Just think what will happen if he gets to be president. All of those fees are just hidden taxes and those fees and requests for donations will go sky high with all the so called republican/tea party government downsizing! No matter what government has to pay bills and you and I want parks, lakes, roads and other things that cost the government money! So either you get higher taxes for all and those things like parks, lakes, roads and other things get maintained for all or you cut taxes and raise the fees for those who only use those things! You have to decide. The problem with that logic is that people will reject those fees and stop using the parks and they will then close. If you think everyone will donate $5 when they renew their license for parks and wildlife your dreaming! Be aware of the right wing spin and be very aware of Rick Perry! I don't like Perry either but I will take him over the guy we have NOW.. We need a business man to run the country.. Hopefully they will use the money for TP&W not anything else.

Not one more dime from me until they release the millions of TP & W "dedicated money" from the general fund. I would give far more than $5 if they would spend it where it is collected for. To me the problem is all collected money that is dedicted for something is that they don't tell the whole truth. You are promised that it will not be spent somewhere else and that is true. What you are not told ( or lied about ) is that it does not have to be released and can just be held.
I don't believe any money would go to the TP & W

arkansas moron bashing aside, i wish this kind of stuff was privatized. it would be more efficiently run and cheaper for the user. we should consider ourselves lucky that gov't doesn't run tackle shops and dairy queens. you need look no further than the post office to see inefficiency at its best.

That money will be just like the money they get from the lottery. Lottery money was for our schools, but you see teachers being let go every day. Where did the money go?? The general fund along with any other dedicated money the governor finds laying around.

Angler, I lived in Texas for over 25 years and moved to Arkansas to retire so I know a thing or two about Texas. Just so you know, the cost of living is cheaper in Arkansas than Texas and a fishing license is only $18 a year. Our state parks are actually clean and open and free and the cost can't go up each year! Wasn't trying to compare states or have a pissing match about which one is better! Just trying to say beware of the so called reduction in tax spin because no matter what you as an individual think you always will pay the most taxes. A Polititions only job is to get elected not to look out for you! So let them privatize everything and see how much it costs you and see what kind of service you get! There is no perfect answer but if you think getting people to donate an extra $5 to fund the TPWD that is pure nonsense. Oh, and I don't remember saying I was a liberal either just a realist!

They won't get an additional penny from me either because I already "contribute" every year. The money is not going to where I expect it to be used. Anymore money sent in will just be stuck in the general fund. From there it is anyone's guess as to where it will wind up.

The general fund along with any other dedicated money the governor finds laying around. Texas lottery info: 13 billion in 13 years, 1 billion in fiscal 2010. Break down 62% prizes paid 2% other state programs 5% Lottery administration 5% Retail commissions 27% School foundation straight from the Lottery home page If ya believe everything they say.
Smile while you still have teeth.
