6-6 is how I've rolled for years... only rod I use that is under 7'. Just switched from an American Rodsmiths Titanium to a St Croix Mojo Bass. Haven't taken it fishing yet, though.

Right. It all depends on your boat deck to water surface relationship. If you get too long a rod,your sb will hit the surface on a roll cast.

I have this rod as well and absolutely love it. It is has great accuracy and still casts them as far as I have ever needed them to go. It is also just very comfortable to fish for extended periods of time.
