I have been down there twice in the last 7 months.
The only point I am trying to get across is bringing a weapon, concealed or not, into Mexican waters is asking for trouble. Chances are you won't be checked, but why risk it.

I have never been on the lake and your post brings up another question. Can you fish and travel this lake with the intent of staying on the TX side? Or would it be a constant issue with wind, idling from place to place with big motor because of stumps, rocks, etc. If you don't want to go to the mexican side it is no problem at all to stay on the texas side of the lake. The last two years we have caught enough fish (big fish) to last us a lifetime of memories and never even thought twice about going to mexico side of the lake. The thing people forget is you don't have to fish that side in order to have an outstanding fishing trip! You can fish in the Tigres area for a year and never fish all of it

Texas side no problem. Mexican side you are asking for a nice 4 star Mexican Jail Cell. In fact IF you travel into Mexico with your vehicle (not by boat) and you have any LOOSE AMMO when you are inspected by the Mexicans then you can get your stuff confiscated. SO WHAT MAKES YOU GUYS THINK THAT IT WOULD BE ANY DIFFERENT to pack a FIREARM into Mexico. Remember this lake is under Federal Jurisdiction since it borders ANOTHER COUNTRY!!!! You have NO RIGHTS over there on the Mexican Side. Texas Law/Fedaral Law stops at the markers in the CENTER of the lake. How many of you guys that "Pack Heat" take them to Acapulco or Cancun???? The only difference is a couple of inches on the Map. Mexico is still Mexico no matter how you get there. I have traveled the whole world and one comment I always hear from "foreigners" is "that Americans think they own the entire world and THINK they can do what ever they want". Taking a firearm into Mexico is a violation of their laws regardless of whatever the reason.

Why dont people understand that some of us pack everywhere we go? It's my right so why the he'll not? We can argue "God given rights" all day long, but your "legal" right to carry ends at the Mexican border. The Federales catch you with so much as a pea shooter, you'll be wishing for an American prison.

Wellllll, I don't really think we own the whole world but as much money and support as we give to the rest of the world, we darn sure should own a huge chunk of it. I have traveled to many many places in the world as well and people in other countries are always looking for excuses not to like Americans. They sure do like our money and sure don't mind asking for support when they are in trouble. Sorta strange how none of that is ever returned.

Bottom line, if you want to carry in Texas, have at it. DO NOT carry in Mexico. If you think you need a weapon to fish in Mexico, then stay on the Texas side or stay home! You're asking for nothing but trouble. I have a persoanl friend that was arrested for a spent .223 case in a borrowed suburaban while coming back from bird hunting in San Fernando. He was taken an hour and a half into the interior of Mexico, beaten and jailed. He was given a bottle of water and a bag of potato chips. They came back for him after two days and let him have his "call." He called an attorney friend in McAllen from whom he had borrowed the Suburban and set the wheels in motion to pay their "fines" and be released. Cost my friend and his associate $50,000 each to get out of jail. Were this today, I doubt you would ever be heard from again.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

What does anyone think they're going to do with a gun in Mexico anyhow? I think most of us (hopefully all of us) gun owners would only draw or shoot at someone if we were SURE they were a lethal threat. The bad guys in Mexico do not have that problem. They will shoot at anything they feel like with what seems like no conscience at all.
It's likely that if any of us were so unfortunate to get into a situation where we would need to defend ourselves with a firearm, that weapon would never make it out of its holster.

my personal opinion is a gun will be more trouble than good of course no one can guarantee you wont have troubl on mexican side i have probably spent 35 full days on falcon in the last year most in mexico and have had zero problems and i will go way back in the coves just use your head and pay attention
as far as wind goes if its really bad you are gonna want to stay on the us side anyway with the predominant SE wind
on second thought dont go to falcon its dangerous how could you concentrate on fishing when you are constantly scared for your life

If you need to take a gun to fish Falcon then you probably shouldn't go. JMO People committ crimes anywhere and everywhere. I would like to see the percentage of crimes on Falcon versus a normal urban area of about the same size... How many folks that are claiming negatives about going to Falcon have actually spent any time there at all? I have been going for over 20 years, regularly and have NEVER had a problem. Media Folks. Media. But if you choose not to go bc your scared... Then thats just fine with me;) FIsh ON!

GENTLEMEN- MY QUESTION WAS ANSWERED LONG AGO!!! START A NEW TOPIC, OR AT THE TOP; BUT THIS ONE SHOULD BE OVER. I'M NOT A WORLD WIDE DESTINATION FISHERMAN, BUT HAVE SPENT SOME TIME BASSFISHING THE INTERIOR LAKES IN MEXICO AND I KNOW THE SCRAPS SOUTH OF THE BOARDER. MY QUESTION WAS ABOUT TEXAS LAW ON TEXAS WATER.
OH BY THE WAY- AS A LICIENCED HANDGUN CARRIER, I CAN CARRY MY FIREARM TO MOST CRAPPERS IF I WANT. NOT BECAUSE IM SCARED; BUT BECAUSE IT IS MY RIGHT. IS IT ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS WHAT I HAVE IN THE CRAPPER??
