It's not like that now.
I have caught two fish in the 21" range but that's been about it. I know where the two under water ponds are and what's left of the creek. I have only fished it twice.
It could use some pads.

Great job. I haven't even thought about fishing those ponds.

Let me know when you go and I will meet you there.
It would be an honor to fish with the Spring 2011 North Texas GTG Barbie Casting champ.
I think ...

LOL.......If you would have been there to see all these big, burly, strong, men trying with all their might to cast that little barbie doll rod the longest you would understand. I'll give ya a shot when I get some time free to go.

That's cool.
BTW - The big bass expert I spoke to told me what lures to get so I jumped online and ordered them. I should be getting them in the next week or so.
He recomended two lures, one of them kinda surprised me at first but made perfect sense later. The other one, the color was something I would have never picked in a million years.
I can't wait until they get here and I start learning how to fish them.

both of em did! at one point the one on Bonnie was dam near all lily pads, I havent fished it in about 10 years but you could throw a buzzbait all day and catch fish like crazy!
I have heard that, you were a lucky man to have got to fish that back then. I was told the city killed off all the lily pads and the lake was raped by the bank fisherman for a few years. I bet there were a lot of huge bass caught and died later being shown around town.
I don't think there are many fish in there now ... but they are real big. All you got is contours on the bottom to break stuff up, both of them old ponds and that creek channel.
It's so shallow, they made a mistake killing off the pads.
But it's still number one on my list to catch a HUGE bass on.

Yeah my buddy and I would put a 10 ft aluminum boat with a trolling motor in and we never saw anyone fishing it, guess word got out and it got hammered pretty hard, we would go out into the middle of that pond and still have grass wrapped around the trolling motor! It wasnt a great pond to learn traps or cranks but top water and weightless flukes were the way to go! There also used to be some HUGE snakes on that pond too! Oh and you can catch a bullfrog on a topwater frog!

Well that has changed, it's now a great place to learn traps and cranks or whatever you might want to drag on the bottom.
I found two places that are 6-7' deep, most of the lake is 5' or less.

The pond I fished today has been changing over the last few weeks. I had to go to deep water (8-10' in this pond)and a texas rig (brush hog) to catch a fish today. A week ago I could toss a crankbait around shallow stuff. I am not sure what the water temp is but it has to been getting up there by now. This is my first spring/summer bassfishing in Texas so it's all new to me. It gets hotter here and the summer pattern starts earler than back in Mo.
My new mail order swimbaits are here at DFW. They will be at my house tomorrow. I start my swimbait lessions in the next AM. It looks like I am going to be fishing deep now. I need to make me a lure knocker to make sure I DON'T LOSE MY 20 DOLLAR bait to a deep water snag.
Anyone know what a summer pattern for a pond in north Texas is?
Feel free to chime in.
Haha.

I am going to hold back until I catch a fat fish to show you which ones I got.
One is a top water, bigger than a spook.
I am going in the morning.
