That is an old school "circle" bill crankbait.

You should toss a spinnerbait to start with. After you get good with it you will be able to fish the swimbait.

Just remember to stop your spinnerbait at least one time as you reel it back in. Just for a split second would be fine.

Well the storm last night turned my clear water to chocolate milk. I know from experience that this will shut down the bite for a few days.
I did catch a few on a bk/bl jig and pork frog but nothing to talk about.

I spent most of the time working that depthfinder looking at the bottom. I found a few things that might hold big fish once the water clears up. I am not going to say what I found but if a small tree was to "fall" onto this spot, I just might be a sweet honey hole that nobody will ever know it's there, but me.

So it wasn't a good day fishing, but it wasn't a waste of time either.

Well we hit the pond again this morning. It was clear down about a foot, 90% of the time it's clear as deep as you can see. I quit counting at 15, most of them were around 15" to 17", a few of them bigger. A lot of them put up a good fight, some jumped clear outa the water a few times. Fun fish to catch.

You know most ponds that have a dam was fed by a creek channel at one time. If you get off shore and use your depth finder you can find that old creek channel, mark it off from shallow to deep. Use 10 marker bouys if you must. Then jump back and look, you will see where the bends and turns are. You can see where the channel runs right up to the flats. You can tell where the hump is between two bends in the channel. Now fish them with something you have confidence with. Toss that bait right on the top of the hump. Run it right along the top of the channel. My favorite is to toss across it, reel it back in and then stop it right over the drop off.

I have been talking to a guy that knows alot about catchin BIG BASS and he said he would give me a few pointers on what to do next. I got the spots off shore in deep water that should hold big fish, now I just need to figure out how to catch them.

I used to fish the 2 ponds at Northlakes in Denton a long time ago, pulled a lot of 7-9 lb bass out of it!

Did the one on Bonnie have lilly pads on it back then?

I heard it did a few years ago.

both of em did! at one point the one on Bonnie was dam near all lily pads, I havent fished it in about 10 years but you could throw a buzzbait all day and catch fish like crazy!
