I have three Veritas rods and I abuse my stuff... never broke a rod. Well except that time I rolled it up in the window. hammer

I'l go one better. Just came off pad and a wasp flies up to my sons face. He takes his cap off and starts swatting at it. Well it landed on his rod where he commenced to smack it to death. I drop the trolling motor and he grabs that rod (the wasp was on)to cast and you here a funny sound when he loaded up the rod. Next cast the rod breaks. Only thing we figured it was, was the metal button on his cap that he kept smacking the wasp on his rod. Weakend the rod at the exact spot. It doesn't take much to weaken a rod.

I have only had one rod break from normal use is was a allstar that broke the first time out between the first and second eye. I do keep having issues with rods loosing the eyelet on the top eye. I just bought one of the kvd quantum rods first hook set i hear some rattling and look up to find the eyelet bouncing around. I have had 3 other quantums do this in the past year. I am thinking about switching to a different brand. I hate having to reglue tips on brand new rods.

Normally if a rod breaks due to overloading it will snap at the meat where it starts its bend, this is the area of highest stress. If it breaks anywhere else, you can count on it having been damaged. I've had co-anglers step on mine when coming up front to net or stepping into the boat. NOT GOOD.

I've been lucky and never broken one. I've got a bad feeling about a Falcon Bucoo because its has a C-rig weight banging on it for a while. I think it will be my first to go.
