In the picture you see it mounted (transducer), I was going to move it closer to the center of the transom. The transom has a "bow" towards the outside. This would be about 6-8" from my Lower unit with trim all the way down and around 12+ from the prop. I would rather had got the through transom mount, but I'm stuck with this one.

Thoughts?? I can post a photo with the trim down if that would help?

Where I am pointing is where I'd like to put it, just leery of putting a bunch off holes in.

No screw holes necessary...EVER!

Peering over the transom at 50mph to find that
elusive "smooth spot" is just plain poor
judgement.

Are you wanting on plane readings too? If you mount higher you will not get 2D readings on plane speeds and would need a second 2D only transducer and Y Cable.

Doug, actually it would be a bit lower. currently the transducer is at an off angle, so on SI, I get a small bit of blockage from the lower unit on the left side. ( Transom curves slightly)

It is flat or parallel in the center, so I was going to move it where I was pointing in the photo, just didn't know if anyone could see a potential headache.

The thru-hull transducer would have been great, but I have already installed mine.
