BLAA BLAA BLAA BLAA BLAA. I will stand by my God given right and one that is protected by our men and women of the armed forces. I will obey all rules and regulations set forth by our elected officials. You believe what you want and I will do the same. I do not cast stones on to you while you are practicing in your beliefs. So do not tred on me while I am doing mine. I will continue to fish as I see fit, where I see fit, and do as I please with my 5 Bass limit!
And thank you Vets for all you have done for me to protect my rights to FISH!!

I stand corrected then on the TP&W reply. Hate to hear that about Amon Carter. Used to fish it a little bit and it used to have some big fish in it. I never knew it was having so many tournaments on it either. You never hear about it and I have seen little to no posts on it over the years.

I fished a tournament release area last week and caught several 3 & 4 lb fish with hook marks in their mouths, actually all the fish I caught in this particular area had been previously caught. Some had abscesses on the lip where they had been hooked, one had a split tail and looked like he got pretty beat up in someones livewell but other than that the fish seemed to be very healthy. However you know some of these tournament fish, especially the bigger ones die later of cortisol build up, I've never had a fish die on me in a tourney but I've had some that weren't looking that great when released in heat of the summer and night tournaments leaving me wondering if these fish make it. I would like to see them do more studies on this.

untreated warm livewells due the most damage. ive got a decade of experience on this subject actually holding caught bass for at least a month per fish and always new fish coming in. i spent alot of time battling fungus weeks after being caught. the ones that wont survive have their organs shut down eventually and there is nothing you can do once its reached that level. like i said before, a 10% delayed mortality rate is not hard to accomplish as some of our trails like basschamps have proven. in my opinion with the education over the last couple of decades, is that most tourney anglers are the best at practicing what we preach.

Need to keep an eye on how this goes if they do it here can do the same thing at any lake.A sal gets hauled from boat to a tank in some bait shop tpw comes hauls it away then at some point hauls it back. How many of these do they lose, thats a lot more hauling around then any tournament fish.

if the fish are well taken care of in the livewell prior to pick up then once in the hands of tpwd they usually fine. tpwd has no control over fish handling before they get there, that's where the problems have came from but its getting better every year.

once a fish like that is caught, fish care must become priority. take pics later, take care of the fish now and it benefits us all, anglers and fish.

I fished the Tennessee and Elk rivers in Alabama for several years. I fished a few little tournaments and was told by a friend of mine who gathered muscle shells about how he would see all the dead fish after a tourney. He claimed the bottom would be white with bass bellies.
I didn't know whether to believe him or not so I asked every diver I knew and they all said the same that they had seen the fish after a tournament. The fish weighed in were announced 'five alive' and were released into the water through a long tube alive. Those that died never swam away from where they were released.

This is why I dont like to post my opinion on this matter around here. It just starts trouble, maybe it hits a little too close to home or something?
All I want to say is that I am no better than anyone else and that we all should just do our best to try and ensure that our resources stay around for yrs to come.
OVER AND OUT!

We are great at voicing opinions from the keyboard..... Not so great when it comes to taking action.
From the Dallas Morning News Ray Sasser Public Meeting Attracts Little Interest
Veteran Texas Parks and Wildlife Department fisheries biologist Bruce Hysmith said hes disappointed with the poor response to a public scoping meeting that he called to talk about the potential problem that bass tournaments are causing for the fish at Amon Carter Lake. Seven anglers attended the meeting, and three others called Hysmith to voice their opinions. Five favored a slot limit to protect the mid-sized bass at the 1,848-acre Montague County lake. I have never fished Amon Carter but what a shame all these posts. I cant be leave only seven anglers showed up!! When they were talking about controlling the moss and pads in lake Weatherford we had a packed club house 45 more fisherman. The message Amon Carter fisherman sent TPW DO WHAT YOU WANT TO WE DON'T CARE!!
One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!
