You're forming the glossy heads; multi-step process?

Also, it may be wholly beside the point, but have you (or anyone else) fished these in freshwater? I would expect them to work well on temperate bass and probably on the sunfish bass, too.

I was thinking of a jig hook, hook-point-up variation of this fly and then realized I was reinventing the Clouser.

The Portuguese Blonde has since proved itself to be productive on shad as well as largemouth, pike and perch. I still fish this pattern in late spring and early summer when Im bank shooting for husky largemouth in off-color water. I have found, however, that most flows in the heartland are better served by the more subdued patterns. The Platinum Blonde and the Martini Blonde are always invaluable for smallmouth bass, hybrid stripers and trout anywhere you go. During the first warm days of summer, when the striped shiners are in their full spawning colors, the Pink Blonde is the must have pattern. In northern climes where perch are common I find I seldom go wrong with the yellow Honey Blonde. http://www.flyfishohio.com/Joe_Brooks_Blondes_fly-history.htm

If I want a super glossy head like some of these, it takes 2-3 coats of nail polish. I have just started making these like this on 5-4-11, so I have not tried these out yet.
I expect bass to like them. (depending on size of hook used)

Cool, I thought they would work too. Thanks for posting that article piece. These can be tied in sizes 6-5/0 I would guess.

Careful! That's a dangerous place to go. You could get hooked on "classic tackle" like I have, then it is a slippery slope!

I can't afford classic tackle. I will just look at the classic fly portion. That way I won't get tempted. :-) I am happy with my Albright rods.

I'm happy with all my rods, I just seem to keep finding more that I want to "enjoy."
