As long as the traders can buy futures and not take actual delivery of the product, there's no limit to the price. They can do whatever they want to the price.

$4.00 a gallon is slowing alot of people down. It looks like it is only going to get higher. We may need to use the TROLLING MOTOR alittle more. I am not about to give up fishing!

Makes me glad I'm running a smaller boat with a 60 horse. And supply and demand has NOTHING to do with gas prices. For years through all of the BS news stories trying to claim this or that has decreased supply, a story finally aired proving supply and demand does not apply to oil and gas prices. Globally we currently have and have had for some time more supply than demand. Saudi Arabia just announced they were cutting production because of oversupply- all while prices keep climbing. This CANNOT happen in a supply and demand scenario. Joebass hit the nail on the head- this won't stop as long as traders can buy and sell futures without taking delivery.

Regarding high fuel prices, a much more serious problem, for most of us, is getting our 'toys' to and from the 'playground'.
For example, I get 8 mpg on my big diesel motorhome, and I get 11 mpg on my 4x4 GMC Emvoy towing my Ranger bassboat.
Whereas, I only burn about 6 gallons of gas per day in my boat.
If was making payments, I would have to quit altogether, instead of "cutting down".

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

You got that right. I bought a H2 since it was cheap and can pull my boat, plus makes a good off road hunting truck, but does she like fuel!!

I can burn a lot on Texoma fishing morning and evening but like others said never 16 gallons. I am sure I have ever even burned 12.

+1 and I saw Obama on CNN they other day talking about it. What a joke. He would not know were to even begin. We need to get a businessman with some experience back in there.

We do need to get the speculation out of the oil markets. The futures markets were set up as a way to cushion the big users was price volatility. They need to change oil to operate like lumber. The biggest players in oil futures are the 3 biggest financial institutions. That is just not right. It should be companies like Southwest, Amercian, Ryder, railroads and the bigger shippers.

By spending money wisely, avoiding absurd $8 spinnerbaits and worm weights that cost over a buck each, and never giving any bank a single penny of interest, gas prices are of no concern to me. In fact, I'll enjoy the reduction in crowds on our lakes and in our national forests as I enjoy several long road trips each year.

I must admit it's somewhat amusing watching people who made incredibly poor decisions wallow in their stupidity now. Perhaps the notion that a 12mpg $40K SUV with TV screens in it is not a necessity for taking a couple of ugly little punks to soccer practice.

And, it's fun to sweep in like a vulture and buy their foolish, bought-on-credit purchases for pennies on the dollar. Craigslist rocks!

When will people learn?

Well, if gas keeps going up I'm gonna start doing a lot more bank fishing.

The US uses roughly 25% of the worlds pertroleum. The next nearest consumer is China at about 9% of total. If our (US) demand lowers, it should have an effect on market price.

So, why doesn't the price lower as demand does here in the US?

I'm no expert, but I can speculate. Demand for oil is causing wars and economic collaspe. Consumers are getting tired of this and looking for alternatives to oil. THe rich oil men see this wave coming and are willing to milk their cash cow dry, until it dies.

When it dies they'll have such a pile of money built up that it wont matter to them. THey'll buy an island and apply all the new age self-sustaining sources of energy to it, that, and their accumulated wealth, will support the next several generations of their family.

To me, it's like free agency in Pro Football. THere is no loyalty to the team, or country in this case, anymore.

Coporations are multinational now. They only look out for themselves. They own lobbiest and politicians to ensure their investments.

The average man in the US is the "cash cow." They'll discard us when we dry up.

just a few thoughts
