Just a thought, I was wondering if some or all of the tournaments including Team (Bass Champs, Bass-N-Bucks, Media, Etc.) and Individual like (BFL, Bass Weekend, ABA, Etc) should start trailering these tournaments because Vehicle gas is not as costly as boat gas. You would have to do boat check at the host location but after boat check you are free to launch anywhere on the host lake. It looks like entries are falling off and maybe it is due to high fuel.. Just want your feedback...

ANY significant increase in cost of fuel will result in a certain number of end users who will need to change SOMETHING in their lifestyle. Most of us are very aware that the price of fuel is tied to almost everything.
The number of tournament participants will decrease. They probably have already "cut down" in spending for other things.
IMO we have seen the best of times. WE're simply going in the direction of poverty.
Meanwhile, we'll entertain ourselves every way we can.
Yeah, yeah I know not everyone is hurting to the same degree. But, you know what I'm saying.

I took my boat to have it worked on two weeks ago. Told the guy I was in no rush. Every weekend he has it saves me $75 dollars.

That's about 1 hr of labor for most boat shops (maybe on the low side). So hopefully it's just sitting there and not being "worked on".

Gas started to change my habits around $3 a gallon. I wanted to start fishing tournaments this year but travel to and from lake would cost $100-150 and fee of $60 is too much for just me to have fun and my family suffer. It is hard for me to justify spending that much on just myself.

High dollar gas changed my fishing style last time it got so high. I quit fishing far away lakes and concentrated on the closest lake to my home. Haven't noticed any diference in the amount of fish caught and I sure have learned a lot about "my lake".

Lately the wind has made the decision easy. I love to spring turkey hunt but cut it back to one trip because of the price of gas. I cannot do much about how much gas it takes to get to a lake but I can do something about how much I burn in the boat.

One thing I worry about is all of the carp that comes out in the advertising from parts stores and dealers. It seems like every time gas goes up they start advertising stuff that they claim will help. Even worse is the carp like magnets on the fuel line. I actually caught a piece of something like that not long ago. You can end up spending more money chasing a little improvement in MPG than what the gas costs.

Get a sail...that will cut your cost in fuel. With the way the wind has been blowing the last two month I could have saved a ton of money.

Ya got to pay to play!

I am blessed to be able to live on a lake!!! I just wish there was more water under my dock to save me from trailering the 1.5 miles!

I burn very little 'boat gas' when I go stay at my BIL's place on Toledo Bend, at the mouth of Sammy Gil bayou. He no longer has a bassboat, therefore my boat gets to hang on this hoist, 1/4 mile from the first fishing hole.

Sad thing is, $4 may seem cheap by the end of summer.
