Nicely done- Just from an observation standpoint, would there be value in making the arm (where chain attaches) so it would pivot?

I am not sure how tough they are to pull out of mud but it would seem with the arm having the ability to swing over, you could pull it out from the opposite direction in which it digs in.

Well today was the test. My boat is 21' and I was in 20+ mph winds today and I anchored at least 10 times. I anchored once in 25' and it held my boat with 2' swells and whitecaps. Also this anchor requires less rope out. I have 100' of 1/2" rope and half of it was still in the boat at the 25' anchorage. When it hit the bottom it held. I had no problem raising it, it came right out of the bottom. I was by myself today so I did get a workout having to do all the raising.

By the way, that 4 1/4" post that the chain is attached to is for a purpose. When it hits the bottom and the line starts to pull it, it helps the back tines dig in at the same time as the front as opposed the the chain attacted directly to the box. When it is attached directly if you think about it, it wants to only dig in the front and at the same time lifting the back up. This was researched by the man the built it.

I had Ernie Dokta to build mine , They weigh 14 lbs. Achored in 33 mph wind sunday. I think the weight is totally unimportant it is the design. I have seen some weigh thirty lbs and don't hold as good as my 14 lber.

Hi Jim
The anchor looks great,do you think it would hold in Amistad, and do you think your Pastor would build one for a small profit.
thanks Randy

Well just a note to say that the anchor holds my boat in 20+mph winds and Weds night at church he brought me another one for the back of the boat made exactly the same. They are almost to pretty to throw in the water but I will have both out tomorrow at Cally.
