I ran a new triton every year for 6 years. That being said the boat isn't underpowered the 225 will do fine. The biggest difference like someone said is resale and fuel. The 250 doesn't have to work as quite as hard to go the same speed and in turn burns less fuel. But the price is a tad high. I am putting a deal together for a buddy of mine on a 08 team boat that only has around 80 hrs on it an has been used mainly as a camera boat and the price on it is 28k and he will be the first titled owner and have a full warranty because it's never been activated. So shop around and see if you can find one like this

Its also underpowered its rated for a 250hp How much performance difference do you really expect to see on a 225 vs. a 250? I've just never really understood this argument very much. Anyway, all I'm really trying to say is that those are some pretty lofty expectations for a $17,500 20+ foot boat in great condition. However, it'd also be interesting to see what "cool electronics" means. If it's two low-end color screen fishfinders without GPS, that's a far cry from an HDS10 at the console and an HDS8 at the bow. Anyway, there are some variables here that I'd want to know about too. But if it does have some non-sidescan/GPS electronics and only an 80# TM, then it's a little high for folks who aren't big Triton fans. But if the electronics really are pretty decent, I'll stick to my guns and say it's about right if the condition is that good and the motor checks out. Just my $.02 I have a 200 tr 22 with a merc 225 efi and as set from factory tops out at 68.7 on gps with a 4 blade prop and no adjustments to jack plate, it handles rough water quite well imo and should run a little faster with a properly matched 3 blade prop but I have been happy as is, I paid 18,900 for mine in 07 with low hours =less than 60 and boat was like new so the price sounds pretty good if good condition, be sure to have hooked to computer to verify hours and have compression check prior to purchase, mine had lowrance gps on it also
