15 mph...lol Not that fast. Something that I learned yrs ago from my grandfather with Sam Rayburn summer schooling LMB. We would fish an active school and they would shut off. They were still there but needed some coaxing to make them active again. The trick was to cast way behind the boat, let it sink, then run to the next spot. We would run the boat with the lures just under the waterline back to another topwater feeding school. Usually, we dipped our rod tips just below the water at the boat while we made the short/fast run. Worked then...still works now. Give Richie his Crappie rod back. I was just glad to make it back to the ramp. My back was hurting, and Ryan looked like he lost his "sea legs" in the ride back. They will be thick again there after a 3 day continous southerly wind. Maybe Monday afternoon for me. Neighbors have their hands out. Then it will be time to catch a few cats for the back pond. Lures are more expensive to lose on the lake vs. the creek aren't they Ryan? We'll get some decent rain soon.

Yea Sir they are! and to be honest with you that one I tried wasn't as advertised. I just picked up 2 of the "Tommy Special" from Wal-Mart 5 minutes ago. I'll keep those in my box just in case. I work Sun, Mon, Tues. and off Wed, Thur, Fri. I'm gonna try and find a way back out there since you decided to keep all the fish!!

You shoulda came to help me. Those yahoos that I fished with this Thur. left me with about that many, and they took home most of the big ones.
Does anyone own the new E-knife from Rapala?(It is electric, and has a 12 volt power connection with 2 sets of blades in a case.) That new Rapala, that I got as a recent gift, has a handle that that came from "the big and tall". It gets tough to hold. May just use the old one and sharpen up the old blades that were ruffed up from yrs. of cleaning those FF reds. I bought an American Angler Ultra PRO- 3years ago..Came with nice case and bonus 10" Saltwater blades...It's 110 volt only , bulky base but has a nice rubber grip handle... Once I got used to it (verses my old Mister Twister) I love it now...

Does anyone prefer trolling with hellbenders or rattletraps for whites? My family has hellbenders mainly but I am wondering if there is a better way to catch those fysty bugers?

You can troll hellbender/pet spoon or road runner combos. Most will just troll rattletraps.

just use the 'trap. Most rattle traps will only dive to the 5-7ft range which would be an ideal depth with the spawn heating up. follow the winds and look for the birds.

Sunday fishing from shore over at Pecan park (opposite shore from Birch) my nephew and his dad picked up about a dozen big fat female whitebass tight lining ghost minnows on the bottom . I'd say it's ON!

So, I take it the run isn't in the creeks? The run is on any point on the North Shores? Sounds good I suppose. Any luck from birch creek or anything? shore or creek?
