They are in both lakes and abundant. I caught one this past summer that weighed 4lbs. He chomped on my DD22..lol. It took me 10 minutes to get my crankbait out of his mouth. He choked it.

I fish for their cousin the northern pike in MI every summer which can eat a pickerel. I fish lake Hawkins from time to time and they are abundant there as well especially late winter they make me miss my Northern Pike.

Is there a size limit? are they good eating or a rough fish? the ones I caught seemed gar like like gar, they actually are very good to eat, however they are super bony and difficult to clean. Fillet them out, put them in cheese cloth and boil for a couple of minutes, it softens the small bones and the large ones will fall out of the meat. Little bit of melted butter and enjoy!!! They are awesome grew up in New York eating them that way. joe
