Smoked crappie?

I grilled fish exclusively when I lived on the coast and only had really big fillets to cook. I haven't done it since I moved ( 30 years ago ) up here to freshwater and became a crappy disciple.
The smoking sounds really good ( as does just about everything else listed).

I will have to give it a try soon. I have a smoker that is feeling neglected and a kayak that is needing disparately to get wet.

Thanks for the inspiration. ( like I needed some)

I agree, nothing but cornmeal.
After a final wash, I put them in a collander to drip for a little while then into my favorite big/heavy bowl sprinkle a little salt on (not too much-this isn't catfish) and pour yellow cornmeal on 'em and mix them up. This makes a wet coat and does well. Now last week I used some Zatarain's crispy southern mix. It was good. It has a little flour in it and of course some cayenne pepper. If you put cayenne in any recipe it automatically becomes "Cajun". I relly prefer the plain cornmeal and I add my cayenne by way of Tabasco while eating.
When my girl was younger we called Tabasco "Dads ketchup" and my Jalapenos were "Poppas' Pickles".

Crappie-hook, no way you can buy a walleye and get the same flavor as a fresh caught fish. I 've bought Alaskan walleye and it doesn't even come close to what I used to catch up in Missouri and Illinois. A fresh river walleye or his cousin the sauger unbelievable taste but I think you'd come out around 50-50 in a taste test. Ibrought back from St. Louis a coule of years ago and two of my buddies said they liked it more than crappie, but htey had never had it and they eat crappie all the time so go figure- got see for yourself Culbers barf

A handy Garage Fridge does good too.

Like the commercials say: "drink wisely, my friend."
My dad gave me good advise when I was old enought to drink:
"If your gonna drink then don't leave the back yard."
He was a wise ole bird.
