(or till we got all the mexican pirates off of it)

Y'all sure are getting worked up over a problem that has a simple solution. Just strap a stainless revolver under the steering console in your boat and leave it there. Make it your designated boat gun. That way nobody sees you transporting a firearm between your vehicle and boat. If you are truly concerned about your safety, versus making a statement about your gun rights by brandishing a gun during your walk to the boat, then it doesn't really matter what the law says. You do what is necessary to insure the safety of those you love. Nobody will ever know you have a gun strapped up under the console unless you have to put it to work...and if it comes to that I don't think you will care if you were disqualified from the tournament for having a gun on board.

Ok, heres my two cents for what its worth. Honestly Ive only been able to read some of the posts on here bout carrying a gun on your boat and got frustrated with this entire thing. If youre fishing in an area that is SO bad that you have to load your boat down with your arsenal just to go catch a fish you might just want to rethink what youre doing? If you feel like you just have to carry a pistol to make yourself feel bigger or badder then ask yourself Do I have a Concealed Carry License if so carry your gun. If you dont have one go, get one if you want to carry concealed. Its really very simple! So much of the time I talk to people who never think of the consequences of their actions even if they are not charged criminally for using a gun, they will still have to face the music on the civil side of the house. Now I know there will be those of you who say things like Id rather be tried by twelve than carried by six .. and I have the Duty to protect my family and all that sort of [censored] but its been my experience that those are the first to turn tail and run when it all hits the fan. If you REALLY cared about protecting your family you would have never taken them to a place like that in the first place. End of story! If you already know that its real bad on the border then why in the world would you go to the border to go fishing? I said Fishing? I have never in my life met anyone who thought catching a fish was more important than taking care of his family. If you still feel like its your (right) to fish wherever you want to then by all means you load up your boat with your little pistol and go on down there and go fishing. The news has gotten pretty boring here lately anyhow. I guess hearing about how you tried to take on a cartel with your .380 and lost would be more interesting than hearing about what the crooks in Washington are doing. Enjoy!

Nobody wants to have to ever use a gun to protect themselves. Nobody would intentionally put themselves in harm's way. But you never know when or where something is going to happen.

Texas lakes are huge. and Most of them are in backwards-@ss parts of the state. I'm sorry, but when I go to rural east Texas, I'm going to be carrying. Not because of what I think IS going to happen, but because of what MIGHT happen.

Give unto Caesar ----

I am pretty bull headed when it comes to my constitutional right and come from a TIME in Texas where I COULD openly carry a firearm in my vehicle OR boat when traveling -- no permit required -- I will NEVER obtain a CC permit -- don't need or want to be registered with the State or Feds -- if I feel a NEED to protect my property or life a weapon is always an option -- if I venture into known dangerous area , I carry, not concealed a 18" Stainless Mossburg 12 ga that can put a LOT more shot in the air quickly and without having to "aim" much --

I fished in a lot of hairy places over the last fourty years -- try Stop Six Lake Arlington (mid eighties) Falcon, Amistad, White Rock lake, Trinity around Dallas, and I have YET to need a weapon -

I can't understand what folks are concerned about -- YOU are responsible for your safety , not the cops, not the state, you pays your dime and takes your chances

I am a lot more worried about some dumb over testosteroned boat driver packin than I am a criminal --

Thats all we need on lakes -- drive by skiers juggle

I do avoid the Published "bad spots"...
NO one knows the "where an when" If we did, it would be easy for people to avoid them.. Why wouldn't any one with any sense take Any and Every precaution available to you.

That's a good question Frenzy! "How many of ya'll have actually pulled your gun in self-defense while fishing? Just curious."

As I said I don't care if you carry gun. You can carry an F-16 with you if it makes you feel better, just remember that after you pull the gun you better be ready and able to use it. Then after the smoke clears you had really better be ready to take the heat cause it's gonna get turned up......
Now before you all start bashing me, I'm a gun lover. Carry one every single day and have since I got out of the Academy. I just read things like this thread and can't help but wonder if the people making the comments on here have thought it through. It does not end when the bad guy hits the ground. It only just begins at that point. All of you who are screaming about your Constitutional Rights will find out just how little you actually know about that after you shoot someone! God Bless each and every one of you and I hope and pray that you never have to know.

Why doesn't everyone that wants to carry a hand gun on there boat just get your CDL.

I can't see to many situations where you would need a pistol on a boat.

If you think a pistol is going to help you on falcon good luck. You will put max 15 holes in their boat while they spray you with 45-100 lol.

Excellent point TREX

Just remember all laws are open to interpretation by the governing body. Is the boat in your name and is the vehicle you came to lake, in your name. Sounds like more of a hastle. I would be to afraid of getting my gun wet or somehow getting a hole in my boat. I already have enough stuff to clean when I get home from fishing don't want to add the gun to that list.

Exactly. CHL affords some civil protection. Non-CHL, when civil court gets done you may have been better off getting an [censored] beating and having them take your wallet.

You can be criminally not guilty, and in civil court guilty as he77 for the same thing, and end up paying dearly.

I read that it appled to lawfull Texans. Drunks are not lawful to carry concealed or otherwise. You have to remember that laws are written for those that obey the law. Those that don't won't care what the law is.
