That's all we need - a bunch of armed drunks on the lake. So let's completely ban beer and booze from the lake. Problem solved. Lake Worth has an alcohol ban on it. I will be packing a 9mm anytime I go there. The 820 ramp has some shady characters at it from time to time

You can drink at worth, you just have to be in a boat.. you cant drink while on shore just like Grapevine.
As far as I know its still illegal to carry on a Corps of Engineers Lake (Lewisville and Grapevine) unless you are an LEO. You guys might check into that before you start toting it around in your boat. If the new law doesnt override the current COE laws you could be DQ'ed from a tournament for having one in the boat.

COE regulations will supersede Tx law as far as carrying firearms on any body of water under their control.

That's all we need - a bunch of armed drunks on the lake. What makes you think everyone on the lake is drunk? If your fishing Lewisville, or Grapevine in the summer it's a good assumption!!! It's already legal to have a gun in your boat (2007 castle law changes) this just prevents some do-gooder from making an issue when you take it from your truck to your boat. Frankly, I can't see why they are wasting the paper. If I were on a ramp and saw someone take their gun and put it in the storage of their boat, I wouldn't think a thing of it. But then, I'm a CHL that carries everywhere but the shower. Is this what you are taking about..I don't see the "boat " thing metioned ...however the HB 1815 "traveling" motorist prection law seems to apply yo vechicals as including BOATS On March 27, 2007, Governor Rick Perry signed Senate Bill 378 into law, making Texas a "Castle Doctrine" state which came into effect September 1, 2007.[286] Residents lawfully occupying a dwelling may shoot a person who "unlawfully, and with force, enters or attempts to enter the dwelling", or who removes or attempts to remove someone from that dwelling, or who commits or attempts to commit a "qualifying" felony such as burglary, arson, rape, aggravated assault, robbery or murder. In addition, a shooter who has a legal right to be wherever he/she is at the time of a defensive shooting has no "duty to retreat" before being justified in shooting; the "trier of fact" may not consider whether the person retreated when deciding whether the person was justified in shooting. Gov. Perry also signed H.B. 1815, a bill that allows any Texas resident to carry a

I've posed the COE question to the TSRA legislative rep for clarification. I also asked what the COE position is for CHL holders on COE lakes. May not get an answer right away of course. Not sure there will be a definitive answer anyway. I believe county law enforcement has jurisdiction on COE property. I don't believe COE rangers can arrest and detain; only issue tickets or citations for minor offenses. I don't believe they are certified peace officers. For things like minors in possession, illegal drugs, ect, the COE rangers call the county. So whether State statutes apply will have to be determined. I don't think it's as cut and dried as people think.

I found this ,,
everything i founf seems to speak of having the gun on you person...I only interested in having it concealed in the BOAT not on me...ITs done in saltwater all the time... State park properties leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are subject to the rules and regulations of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Therefore, a loaded, concealed handgun carried by a valid license holder is allowed within any Texas State Park." "If you have any further questions about firearms in Texas State Parks, pleae contact Mr. Wes Masur, State Park Law Enforcement Director, at 512-389-8001 or via email at wes.masur@tpwd.state.tx.us " Carter Smith, Executive Director of TPWD
------------
So, asking about wade fishing or in the kayak or boat FROM a State Park Shore...
Thanks for your question. Since you are on the waters operated and managed by the COE you would be required to abide by their rules and laws, therefore this would be a question for them. As I understand it, you would not be allowed to carry a weapon on their waterway. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, Wes Masur Director, State Park Law Enforcement 512-389-8001 Office 512-389-8559 Fax wes.masur@tpwd.state.tx.us ---------------------------------

all these laws do is keep law abiding citizens from the god given rite to being able to protect themselves and their property . a law abiding person should be able to carry a firearm without any risk of prosecution . criminals on the other hand have no respect for the laws ( no matter how many laws our over educated to point of not having any common sense legislators write ) or people to whom they victimize. new and wordy laws do nothing but cause confusion and most of the time make criminals out of honest hard working people whom were just trying to protect whats theirs in the first place. we need to put our foot down and tell our governing idiots to quit putting more and confusing laws in the books .if you have to be a lawer to read and understand whats written it needs to be thrown out. sorry for the wordy reply ,but the way these laws are is a perfect example of why im barking about it.

What about if you're on Lake Falcon...can we take our high power rifles to protect ourselves against Mexican drug dealers until we can make the Texas shore? Or should we leave it up to the gov't to protect us...which we know will never happen. They'll be the first ones to put out an All Points Bulletin for guys riding atv's on a public shore, but are nowhere around when the chit hits the fan and you really need them. I have my CHL, even though I feel that I shouldn't be required to have one. It's just a way for them to collect tax dollars on something I feel we already have an inherent right to do. Me paying them money to get a CHL has no impact whatsoever on the bad guys who are carrying one w/o the license.
Personally, I am friggin sick and tired of having to depend and rely upon an abstract entity(the gov't) to protect my family, myself and the things I have worked so hard to acquire for my family and myself. The gov't never does squat until after the fact, then they say they have done all they could. Well, I call BS on that! They need to quit "censored" on our heads and telling us that it's life giving rain. Vote out all the clueless and holier-than-thou legislators, their nonsensical moronic regulations and let us as responsible citizens do what needs to be done.
In the words of that famous poet G. Gordon Liddy..."I'd rather be judged by 12 peers than carried by 6 freinds".
Ok, my rant is over...but the gov't still sux!

Dragonuv, I hear what you are saying, but the truth is that we still have the BEST government in the world. If you get the right people in office and get the right message out there, the things that make you mad CAN be changed. The problem is that a lot of people aren't willing to work hard enough to make it happen.

The problem is that a lot of people aren't willing to work hard enough to make it happen. There's no doubt about that, I agree 110%. My fear is that it is beginning to go in the opposite direction...all in the name of politcal correctness. They either dwell on the hypothetical, or they pass a law restricting our rights because one moron did something stupid. Just like when Hinkley shot Brady, they passed the assault weapons ban. To me that was extreme overkill and only made it more difficult for law abiding citizens to get them. The criminals have no problems getting them at all.

OK...What about duck hunters..aren't we already doing this and why do you have to carry a handgun...??? I'd rather have my .223 or shotgun if I were at Falcon anyway. And that is where all this is coming from anyway

All of the people who want to make handguns, rifles, shotguns etc. illegal for law abiding citizens are just making the criminals job safer!
A bad day on the lake is much better than a good day at work!
