that would make me mad. i once saw a bank fisherman have his lines run over by a bass boat that had just launched. They exchanged words then the boat pulled away. The bank fisherman took all his stink bait and shoved it down in the guys air vents between the windshield and the hood. He smiled at me and got his car and calmly drove away. Yeah, the fisherman was in the wrong in this instance. The ramp is for launching boats not fishing. I have got dirty looks from fisherman fishing the rock extensions that surround the ramp at Cleburne lake while unloading when i crank up the motor. Guess they are worried im scaring the fish away with my motor running. Lots of shoreline to fish at cleburne, but they want to fish right at the ramp, dont understand that.

1st post from a long time lurker.Let me first say this is a great forum with lots of good info, caught many a fish thanks 2 TFF.I love fishing the local creeks, but i have a bum knee so i have to use a boat or sit in one spot.My problem is at my local creek there is really only one spot i can get my boat in/out and some people dont think of others or dont care and leave there vehicle on the ramp(slope 2 creek)blocking everyone else.So please think of others and park out of the way.Thank you(sorry about the rant got blocked out today) Next time the inconsiderate SOB parks there, Pee on their truck.

Usually people aren't out to get you, to intentionally tick you off. They don't realize what they'd done so a gentle kind word is often enough to get it corrected. You'd be surprised how nicely people respond to polite friendly requests. Good fishing, everyone. This is the way to do it. The last thing you want is a confrontation. If things get heated, just walk away. A dy fishing is not worth a fight. Be freindly, if it doest work, call the Game Warden. Reading another post here I was surprised by the number of folks packing heat or knives, so just because we arent hunting there is still the possibility of craziness...

Call the sherriff and have it towed. That will be the last time the guy parks on the ramp. I can assure you local le guys will have a truck on the ramp towed if it is unattended.
Retirement best job ever.

That's been my experience as well, but what blows my mind is that people are so unaware of those around them to begin with! People don't intend to be idiots, it just happens!

I have launched boats all my life, but I have had some trouble every now and then that slows the process down. Lake Dunlap was the worst boat ramp that I have had the pleasure of launching at. Many trips getting the boat back on the trailer correctly took a while because the current kept throwing the boat off the center guide. Another issue that I had at Dunlap occurred during some dam maintenance that caused the lake level to drop a few feet. When I went to launch the boat the trailer fell off the edge of the ramp. I know people are saying I would never do this, but until you have your own Bill Dance moment let them have the extra 5 minutes to make sure everyone is safe. Better that then waiting for someone to pull them or me out.

tafishing,
I doubt anyone is concerned with someone that is having some trouble launching their boat-we've all been there, and patience is warranted.
I think where most people have issues, is getting your boat READY right at the ramp thus preventing others from launching. Or worse yet, cleaning up right at the ramp.
I launch by myself most of the time and I don't feel that others are really impatient or upset due to my getting launched, but if I am putting in the plug, getting lifejackets out, pulling off straps etc. while folks are lined up waiting to launch feel free to come over and smack me in the back of the head!

I can certainly get upset when people prep on the ramp. It seems to happen even when we have lines at the ramps. Which is weird because you would think with all the waiting around time they would of done everything. Another time saver during launching on older boats(like mine)is getting the engine cranked before you hit the ramp. I dont leave it running just make sure it will turn over on the first few cranks.

That reminds me of a buddy getting married. We went fishing the night before and still had minnows and stink bait in the truck. We were decorating the car 200 lbs of rice ,shoe polish, beer can trailers and minnows and stink bait on the back of the intake and in the AC vents. It was June and really started stinking a couple of days later. They thought a rat or something had died in it. It was so funny. After they divorced we told him what we did.

Was putting in at Hurricane Creek, LOP a couple of years back. Pretty busy for that ramp and a fella was in quite the hurry to get off the water. I just about had the trailer to the waterline, and this bozo busts up in a nice, nice rig. Beaches it on the ramp smack behind me, just sits there with a "hey, I won" look while his buddy hops ashore to get their truck. Not much anybody could do with a boat smack in the middle, we all had to move so this moron could retrieve his boat.
