2 1/2 to 3lbs was our average. From what I've heard, I was expecting a 4 lb avg. I guess I need to quit believing the fishermen.... bolt

We had about 35 fish Friday... fortunately, only 4 fish under 3 pounds. I've been on the lake maybe 6 times since opening. So far... we've caught them up to 7 lbs with most being in the 4 1/2 pound range and a lot of 5's. It is great to see fish so fat and healthy. However, when that lake got hot... it shut down. I need to learn the deep, deep water bite there.
The creek channels leading into main lake have held some nice fish for us.We seem to get on groups of bigger fish, catch a few... then it turns off and we move. Friday... we got on a nice flipping bite, caught some good size stuff in 1 foot very tight to cover.

There are definately small fish and Big fish Patterns on Sqaw right now. On opening day I fished shallower than most and avarage size fish was 2 lbs bigger than most of the fish I saw caught around me.

Makes sense Shawn. I'm sure I'll be on one of those small fish patterns very soon.
