Well after thursday i believe you will have around 50 people that will state that the new ranger z520 are definately not the best rough water boat! From what I've rode in i'd put it around 4th What happened Thursday ? 20+ mph winds from the north on rayburn during the flw college event. Was really disappointed in how the z520 handled. Was tough to turn, really hugged waves, even with the motor trimmed all the way down it still acted like it wanted to speer waves. Was a VERY wet ride (i know not all 20 of us were bad drivers) I've fished in rough water before and own a 18 ft 8 ranger and i think it even handled better than the new 520s. The yamaha SHO vmax was pretty sweet though. The hole shot with that motor was unreal. Definately reinstated my feelings to own a basscat cougar ftd as my next boat. On a side note i do really appreciate ranger allowing us to use some really awesome boats this week!

Fish/Ski is the driest ride around. Not much for deck space when compared to a full service bass boat.
 Boatless for minute

If you put the same driver in different brand boats - what then ? - one would be better I suppose

I was just having the conversation a couple of days ago since I'm thinking about a new boat. Currently in a 1992 195vf charger and it is a pretty good rough water boat but I'd like to upgrade to a bigger DC boat and wasn't sure what all is out there for rough big water. How are the new skeeters?

I have always thought it was the driver, not the boat. I have been in 4' rollers in 15' boat and made just fine.
I am guessing Statos will now be the rough water boat.
My 21' Skeeter does just fine . I was on Amistad one day when there was 5' rollers and stayed dry!
And two fat guys can stand on the same side and not feel like you are falling off a cliff

I have a 97 202' and went to test out a Legend today at Grapevine. Not quite as nice as mine, but pretty sweet. It sits up a lot higher than the old Champs. Definitely not BassCat. My partner has one and I get a back pounding every time we go in rough water with his. If it's blowin, we take the Champ. But...that Cat is one fast hull. 2 cents.

An older Ranger with a good driver. My 95 21' Comanche is awesome in rough water.
