Robin,
I don't think I can describe the nose very well. It is somewhat bullet shaped. And has a long concave cup mouth that angles up at a 30 degree angle from horizontal. Not sure a different picture would show this very well. P.S. I found the sock for the rod I gave to Evan Allmighty.

I'm beginning to hate the diving trait it has when you try to rip it off the water. I dang near tipped my rod this morning when I tried to rip it off the water to cast to another fish. I was watching the fish and not my fly, it felt like a snag on your back cast.

Sounds pretty specialized, I imagine that the high price is not completely without merit. I am gonna watch his video again, see if I can suss out his retrieve technique.

SBridges, you can probably minimize the diving effect with a little roll cast before the pick up. It breaks the surface tension, and lifts the head of the fly, making it easier to get out of the water. This can be done with any popper type fly, and it helps quieten the loud pop or disturbance you sometimes get when picking the fly up...

WHO DARES SUMMON THE GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ TXREDRAIDER!?!?!?!

Howdy, folks. I hope you enjoyed your week of peace and quiet in my absence.

There are about three of us who have delved into the world of cheap poledancers around these-here parts. If you take a look at this thread you'll see the latest version than wwest built. I also added links to the other poledancer threads at the bottom of wwest's thread.

The one I built as a lark, which I dubbed the Dayshift Waitress, actually worked pretty well when stripped a certain way. I did have an issue with massive amounts of line twist with it though. I think someone with a dremel tool and some foam blocks could turn out a reasonable facsimile without too much trouble. I think the key to it is adding the right amount of weight far enough back on the hook shank. The "reverse" slope on the face of it also seems to help.

By the way, I spent the whole week in MN bareheaded and part of the week wearing a tie. Had I possessed a hat when I touched down at DFW yesterday, I would have thrown it with great exuberance. smile

I thought there was a rule, that when folks visited Minneapolis, they had perform a re-enactment of that MTM hat toss.

Welcome back. Could have used some of your mischief earlier when the Sheriff announced that he had limited connectivity. smile
