AOY should represent how well an angler did all year.Consistency is what it has always represented. I do not like the format that allows for a baloon in points that can wipe out what an angler has done. Skeet had the best year in BASS history. He should be angler of the year. I have on my helmet so feel free to hammer me now.

I think top 5 finishes should be weighted heavily along with a win. If this was the case, Skeet would have won easily.

They shouldn't have messed with AOY. It has nothing to do with figuring out the best of the best or who had a great year. Change the name to AOM, Angler of the Moment. It should be angler of the year, with it determined on the whole years performance.. That was my point.

Skeet's arrogance cost him the AOY last year. He said that he did not need to practice, he would fish the moment. Then 99.9% went south, while he went North. I think his arrogance is what cost him again this year. You could see in his actions and his talking that he was saying screw the rules and the format, I deserve to be the AOY and everyone knows it. Well there were 11 others that were hungry and wnated it no matter the format and KVD triumphed. If the format would have been different from the start, who knows what may have happened. Know one knows if KVD took a rest after winning the Classic and knew he had time to catch up for AOY at the end of the season. But I can gurantee this. Keep poking KVD by telling him he is undeserving and you will wake a sleeping giant. They change the format back and I will bet he will be at the top again.

Why because for 40 years the AOY format has stood the test of time as being the best barometer to crown the best angler for that year. 40 years of records stand crowning what to a man professional anglers will tell you is the MOST difficult achievement to reach in the sport. Being tossed aside for a format that allows the guy in 12th place in the post season (2 tournys) to unseat that guy and crown him AOY. JOKE! Ask yourselves why when these guys are interviewed what means more to them personally when looking back on their careers AOY or Classic..... They all say AOY? I've made my point in several threads, I'm out. Carry on

I voted for the money. This way I can take it easy throughout the season, work just hard enough to make the top 12. Then catch a break and with a little luck I would be $100,000 richer! Heck some guy could even win every tournament throughout the season and I still would have a chance.

Since I am the manager of this poll, I have decided that the last day of polling if you vote for the $100,000 scenario it will count double in points and we are taking away 3 points from the $10,000 side to make it even. Just kidding!

Looks like there is a tie. And all ties go to the the poll generator, which was me. So next year I will let ESPN know that the format will need to stay the same, and that the TFF supports the format. Just kidding! Thnaks for everyone that provided info. I was very surprised by the results. I figured more would like a chance for more money. I wish they would have kept the AOY like the past and made the Classic winner a playoff scenerio like they have for the AOY currently.

Ike showed the fans it was possible last year. I don't get it, Ike came from 11th in points in post season to 3rd.

Don't like the playoff system in BASS FISHING. Right now its 62-59 with me.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

There is something to be said for the added adrenaline rush and pressure of the post season tourny's. What would basketball be without March Madness, baseball's world series, or even the world cup for those who believe soccer is even a sport...
fishing is not baseball... or basketball... or football. there isnt a way to compare it to other sports. AOY should be the best angler over the whole season, not someone who goes on a hot streak for 2 weeks.
