Had a revelation last night about the AOY controversy. Just wondered how the board would vote, so I tought I would start a poll. Here are your choices. Keep in mind this could be applied to any race: BASS, FLW, Bass Champs, Media, club, etc. Your tournament director gives you a choice. You can keep it the same it always has been where there are 10 tournaments with the angler who does the best over the season wins AOY.(Payout will remain for arguement reasons $10,000) or you could agree to an 8 regular season tournament schedule with two post season tournaments with the top 12 only qualifing.(Payout will be worth $100,000) How would you vote?

Just starting wondering how many purist would still want to keep the AOY race the same if more money was involved. Because I think that is the reason that ESPN did the format the way they did. So they could make more money and give better payouts to the anglers. Or they could have kept it the way it was and make less and payout less. Just food for thought.

I think we are all over it, well most of us I should say.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

There is something to be said for the added adrenaline rush and pressure of the post season tourny's. What would basketball be without March Madness, baseball's world series, or even the world cup for those who believe soccer is even a sport...

This race is as about as close as the actual AOY race. After this poll we will have a runoff in the post season.

They shouldn't have messed with AOY. It has nothing to do with figuring out the best of the best or who had a great year. It's all about money and ratings.....
It's no different than a trail doing 'double points' at the end of the year to keep participation up. It's about business not who's best....

I wonder if they told the Elites they could go back to the old format and the purse would be $20,000 how many would change their tune?

Looks like the house is divided. I have it set to go two more days. But looks like we have a split.

i wonder how much B.A.S.S. actually cares the majority of the viewers, and most of the pros, think the new format is dumb.seems to me that its not helping boost ratings or membership if everyone disagrees with it.

I would imagine that the ratings were very high based on the number of people who voted online. Maybe the naysayers on here can get together and send BASS $500k for a sponsorship and then put the rules back like they want them. This is a BUSINESS.

Could not agree more with Houston Bass. Too many people are getting caught up with their emotions of how it should be or how it used to be. The fact is ESPN dictates the way it is. Does not matter if I agree or anyone else on this board agrees. The anglers agreed to follow the trail and follow the rules. End of story. I really thought it was wrong for Byron Velvic to crowd Martins on Falcon But he was within the rules. So it really did not matter that I thought it was wrong. Aaroon Martin was crying and now Reese is crying. Notice anything in common: Cryers=Losers!
