Quicksilver, that is an awesome fishing hole, did you notice you left the coordinates on the pic?

lol, I left them in on purpose... No problem.. If it were one of my pet brushpiles you can bet that I would have hid the coords.

As I stated earlier I just bought a boat with a 997 on it. I took this pic and was wondering if someone could tell me what all the green is at the bottom of the sonar and the red/yellow coming off the ledge?

I am guessing that is part of an old bridge or culvert going across that little creek/gully. Those red extensions are are hard like asphalt.

reduce your distance left or right down to the 60 -90 range. The green is feedback or clutter most likely. I like to try to find areas like this and put a couple of GPS points on each side then try to drive over with the DI to see more detail. eddie@humminbird on this forum is the tech support guy for HB. He helped me with mine quite a bit.

I don't recall but QuickSilver helped me out a lot over PM. I know the chart speed was up to fast so I will adjust that. The previous owner had his chart speed up to 9 I think and I dropped it yesterday some but from now on I will match that with my mph.

Also if you are just wanting to take cool pics and not trying to highlight fish turn the SI enhance off then take the screenshot.

You will see a big difference in the SI images with the chart speed changed.

Sometimes I wish I still had the 997. I now run an 1197. I still think the 997 has a "cleaner" display than the 1197.. Probably just my old tired eyes though lol

Here are some puzzling pictures for me, my 2D shows what looks like tons of fish but then in SI and DI I see nothing below the boat. Is this a SI/DI settings issue, or just tiny baitfish that don't show up in SI/DI? I have a full 3 minute recording where I'm going about 4mph along a bank that looks just like these stills:

2D vs SI

2D vs Down imaging
