I felt the same way when I first started using my 997. I thought "no way I can think in 3D" It doesn't take a lot of time on the water to get the hang of it, though.

I have been good. I bought a HDS 10, just tying to figure everything out on it.

Tommy slow down to about 2 mph and set your scroll speed at 4 or 5 and your pics will be lot clearer. The key to it for me was to stay in the picture zone a long as possible. Not trying to say what you're doing is not right just trying to help. Take a look at my 08 pics.

YOW! That first pictures looks like you found the spot where all my mini donuts went flying outta my boat - they're still there? Guess fish don't like mini-donuts.

Cool pics... thumb

You want your scroll speed about the same as your boat speed. So if you are idling 3mph set your scroll to 3 to get clearest images.

That looks like the tire reef at Richland just off the west side of the flats!

What are your setting at, sens, contrast. I have a 997 and seem to get a lot of white clutter.

I also would like to know as I just got a 997 on my new boat I bought. Your pics look super clean!

Also how do I take pics? I have a extra SD card next to my Navi card...just not sure on how I take pics..thx

Those posting about the speed, here is what the manual says:

Boat speed: Side imaging is best performed at boat speeds between 2 to 6
mph. If the boat is stationary, the same information is displayed over and
over. If the boat is moving very quickly, there will be gaps between the strips
of information. The best boat speed to use will depend on the side range
selected. Slower speeds are good for longer ranges, while faster speeds can
be used at shorter ranges.
