Does anyone own or like a Mako for Striper fishing? There is one at the GV Bass Pro they are trying to move out. If I remember right, it has a 250 Merc. REDUCED TO SELL

Fish Zombie

I looked at one at the BPS in san Antonio. Nice boat on the outside. Over all the layout was pretty good. Wasn't impressed with the hinges seemed like all of them would get stuck and hard to open. Seems there was one or two things I didn't like as well but I can't remember what they were.

I have a Kenner 2102 basically the same boat as the Mako just different stickers. I love it for striper and bay fishing been to Venice several times in it and it's been great. One of the mistakes I see folks make when getting these boats is the hang a lot of horse power on the back. My boat is almost 22 feet long and I only run a 125 Mercury Saltwater. It goes great 35 MPH loaded with gear. Most of the time at my age 25 MPH is great and it plains as low as 18 mph. The other great thing is it was a lot cheaper and better on gas then the big units. I was lucky and purchased it on ebay for 15,100 new in 2004. It came from a dealer looking to reduce inventory for winter. The other funny thing is at that time you needed special approval from ebay to bid over 15K. I had the approval and I think a lot of the other bidders didn't and they couldn't keep bidding. The auction really heats up in the last few hours and it takes a day to get the 15k approval. So if you do ebay plan ahead. I see Gunnerson Marine is still doing the same thing. They are out of Alabama.

It appears like your getting it. Maybe you could get the mods to lock the thread for you.

Your best bet for used Falcons is going to be checking the papers, "green sheets", etc all around Lake Texoma. You'll see very few Falcons elsewhere.

Buyer beware, many of the used Falcons will be ex-guide boats. Some guides take great care of their equipment and some are the opposite.

I guess it is the time of year to think about upgrading boats. I am thinking about doing the same thing. My little tracker 175TX has been a great boat for me but I really want to be able to take 4 folks out and not be so crowded. I was thinking maybe bump up to a 18 or 19' bay boat or striper boat. Anyone that has a 18 or 19 foot bay or striper boat want to share their thoughts on putting 4 adults in one for lake fishing?

I checked out a 19 foot mako at bass pro and it looked like it would seat 4 comfortably. I am trying to stick to single axle and no more than 90hp so I don't burn too much gas so thought I should probably keep the empty weight to under 2000 pounds. I can't afford new so probably do like I did with my tracker and buy a 3-5 year old one that is still in good shape.
