Possibly "leanin post" may have been using your story to illustrate for readers the seriousness of such "brain farts".
Honestly (& with no malice), if all you suffer is a little berating from this - you'll be very fortunate BOL cheers

Everyone has done things that they wish had never happened and did not have any intention for it to. Kicking someone while he is down is not going to change anything that happened or correct anything bad that could happen from it. Anyone with a brain knows the seriousness of the incident so put yourself in his shoes as I am sure he has already thought through all the possibilities. Hopefully the person that took it is an honest person and did so just to keep it out of the wrong hands and try to find the owner. Regretably that will more than likely not be the case.

well I wasnt trying to be a duck, but a dumb stunt is trying to jump a car on a skateboard, a dumb stunt is jumping off your roof with an umbrella. it just seemed like you were downplaying the seriousness of this. I shouldnt have commented, but if I can help in anyway let me know. Maybe if you post some flyers at the ramp offering a " no questions asked " reward, they might bite. Also if you have the serial numbers, might go to all the local pawn shops and ask them to BOLO. . also keep any eye out on your local craigslist, its not allowed but alot of people sell and trade guns on there. they use words like.. I have a bang bang to trade, or pea shooter , ect.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Curious what the park police had to say about this? You get a citation?

Hope it all works out for you without being too painful

Tod, several years ago after returning from a hunting trip I set my deer rifle and shot guns at the curb of my driveway so my ride friend could get on his way. I left the guns and went in the house thru the garage and closed the garage door and took a nap. A couple of hours later my neighbor
called and asked if I was giving away my guns. Well DUU. Fortunately he had picked them up and gave them back.
Sorry for you loss but we all have our moments of regret.

Tod,

It's obvious that you regret your mistake. And I know you realize how serious it is. I'm sure you had to swallow your pride just to post this thread.

Anyway, are you an NRA member? One of the membership benefits of the NRA is ArmsCare. It is included with your cost of membership and it covers theft, accidental loss, and damage to insured firearms. It may be a way for you to have your weapon replaced.

Don't be too hard on yourself about this. You're not the first or last.

Although a big no no and i think you have learned a big lesson maybe some how they will turn up. Maybe they will wind up at a pawn shop and no one gets hurt. I only hope the very best for you. Have you thought of a CHL if you do not already have one. Then you could carry it on your person concealed on less way to help prevent it from being sat down while transferring it from truck to boat...

Best of luck finding your gun. Losing one like this is like your wife messing around on you...you don't know who she is with or where she might have gone. Real disturbing. Maybe a responsible (do the right thing) person will assist you in getting your property back. It's a shame that things like this are not lost...they just change ownership. BTW we have all made BIG mistakes in our lives....Just hope this turns out for the better for you.......

A good day fishing is not losing a jig, a bad day fishing is not losing a minnow!
