Hmm, never saw one like that before, you should post some pics!

Catch and Release fishing is a lot like golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time.

Bead head hare's ear nymph, and a very small white popper with black and white marabou work best for me.

1/3 of the flies in my bluegilll box are different variations of Jack Gartside's Gurgler which we call a yellow foam spider. All are ted on size 10 Mustad 3366 hooks. I will always start with a yellow one and they will have to prove to me that they do not want that color that day before I move to a chartreuse or a purple...or any other color. That is the only hook I use because they are cheap and I otherwise could not afford to have given away about 12 thousand of them thru the years.

Another 1/3 of the box are different colors of Mike Verduin's Cap Spider. I tie it in all colrs, but count on the olive, chartreuse, and black ones being the ones that will work.

The other 1/3 of the box is just a combination of various trout nymphs and flies that a weird mood hit me and I just felt like tying. There seems to be something magic going on with peacock hurl for a body material and I tie a lot of soft hackle flies cause I just plain like to tie them and they catch a bunch of bluegill for me.

As always,

Have fun with this stuff.

Today I had good success with some orange belly stimulators and a homemade prince style bead head.

I wonder about throwing a small popper with a Cap Spider as a dropper about 18" below...might be a BG killer...LOL.

Caught some today on a small pond near my house, in a short amount of time using a white popper/copper john, and all where caught on the #12 Copper John as a dropper.

Just one more cast!

I caught my first bluegill on a fly yesterday! But not on a fly rod, though. lol. i tied on a fly that i bought years ago, and dipped it in the water with my rod. Almost instantly it got picked up by a 7-8 inch bluegill. i was a bumble bee pattern.
