well since i only have 6 baitcasters and one spinning rig i usually just keep them all on the deck weather i use them or not. I always have a lipless crank tied on, then about 3 trigs with differnet combos of weight and hook sizes, this time of year a chatterbait, one free so i can tie whatever on it and then one with a weightless hook.

I use to carry around 12 rods, till they got stolen. I always ended up using about 4 of them. But I always had back ups. Now I only carry four that wasn't stolen. You can only use one at a time any way.

It depends on the lake and the time of year. 5-12. Right now on Lewisville I use 5 but on Texoma I would have 10 rigged.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

A friend of mine fished the Federation as a boater, his non-boater the 2nd day loaded 23 rods/reels, all spin cast and only used 4 all day. That's funny. I know exactly who you are talking about. It was at the Texas Federation at Belton right?

[with 7 baitcasters and 2 spinning rods. Here's my question.....how the heck do you guys store all those rods?? I can have as many as 5 on the deck, but I've eventually gotta have a bunch in the rod box. My partner fills the other. How do you all keep them from catching on each other when you try to remove one? I'm pretty sure I go into fisherman's Terret's syndrome around Noon every tournament day when I reach in and try to pull another one out of the box and the eyes or line is caught on another rod. What's the trick? Do you have 10 tod tubes in your rod boxes?? [/quote]
hook the lure to the reel ,or rod lure hook (if you have one) . then tighten line . grab the line about halfway down the rod. spin rod(several times) , and let the line hook over middle rod guide.. now you can lay then in rod locker/pickup bed , or loose on the deck . never tangle with another rod. dont need tubes at all very quick to do ,and undo .. hope this helps.

Fun question. I'm actually leaving at 4:00 am tomorrow to head to a big tournament tomorrow at Lake of the Ozarks that I run, but also fish in. Private tourney for my company. I fish several other tourneys each year. I tend to run with 7 baitcasters and 2 spinning rods. I have 12 rod tubes in my storage box. If you twist the line around yyour rod a few times before placing them in the box it keeps them from tangling on each other...most of the time.

When fishing by myself, I put 4 rods on each side of the front deck and 4 rods in passenger side rod ramp in back. If fishing with a partner, just the 4 and 4 up front, unless I am dialed into the fish then 2-3 rods total up front.
Needless to say, I usually have 8 rods up front!!

I like to have maybe 4 on the deck but may only use 1 or 2. I have another 10 in the locker though with different set-ups just in case the situation requires it.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

I start with about 8 on deck and try to wind up with a 1-2-3 punch by the time I get going. I may swap them out throughout the day. This weekend I'll probably start with 8 on deck and wind up with 5 by noon.
1. 10" worm 2. 1-ounce jig 3. 7" swimbait 4. Big crank 5. Big flippin bait
