A friend of mine fished the Federation as a boater, his non-boater the 2nd day loaded 23 rods/reels, all spin cast and only used 4 all day.

I probably carry 15 bass rigs with at all times. Like guys above have said it would be great if I only had 1 out at a time. The more rods out the tougher the fishing and more different things I'm trying to get bit. I would say if you really have the fish dialed in maybe 2-3 rods out at a time would be great.

I usually have 8-10 rigged up. Depending on the lake, I will throw a crankbait the most followed by a shakey head or Carolina rig.

10 rigged, 6 on deck when trying to establish a pattern, if i find a pattern then i will have about 3 -- usually it seems to be spinnerbait/t-rig/jig and maybe a topwater for the morning. If i can't establish a pattern, then 6-8 and 8 means i am in trouble!

Fun question. I'm actually leaving at 4:00 am tomorrow to head to a big tournament tomorrow at Lake of the Ozarks that I run, but also fish in. Private tourney for my company. I fish several other tourneys each year. I tend to run with 7 baitcasters and 2 spinning rods. Here's my question.....how the heck do you guys store all those rods?? I can have as many as 5 on the deck, but I've eventually gotta have a bunch in the rod box. My partner fills the other. How do you all keep them from catching on each other when you try to remove one? I'm pretty sure I go into fisherman's Terret's syndrome around Noon every tournament day when I reach in and try to pull another one out of the box and the eyes or line is caught on another rod. What's the trick? Do you have 10 tod tubes in your rod boxes??

my bass cat has 10 tubes and i put lure keepers(?) around the lures and rods so the hooks don't get caught up with all the line and guides and carpet and whatever the heck else!

I stick with four rod/reel rigs: 1. Baitcaster rigged for crankbaits. 2. Baitcaster rigged for spinnerbaits. 3. Spinning rig for plastics (mostly Texas rigged worms.) 4. Spinning rig for dropshotting/wacky worm.
This is my normal setup. I have never had much luck with topwaters, jigs, or flipping and pitching, so I don't even really mess around with those too much.

More than 7-8 and it becomes more about managing your setups and less about fishing.
I will say that carrying that few requires alot of forethough as to what rod/reel/line/lure combinations you want before a given trip, but once you are on the water, as many have stated, it really helps you keep it simple and focus on the fish.
