Kinda thought we might hear some out of the TSA guys? Comparing what we experienced and saw the last two weekends with the stories I've heard of the '01 Fish kills on PK and Whitney, I think Whitney will be fine. Lot's of good fish caught Saturday. Just some pelicans and buzzards cleaning up. No front end loaders, backhoes, or bulldozers.

well I don't need to hear stories of the 2001 and 2003 fish kills on whitney.I lived on the lake then and still do.I'm not convinced this years kills are that bad but they are worse than most are saying. The striper guides here in 2001 and 2003 were saying the same as now it's that that bad there's plenty of fish everyone is making a big deal out of nothing.so if you look at stocking reports after those die offs they were about the same as before.I don't thing the striper guides here anyways have the long term interest of the lake in mind....rick

we caught plently of stripers on saturday at whitney 3 of us caught over 20 fish. Even had a 20 pound fish hooked at one time. I am unexperinced in these fish kills but the dead fish floating didnt seem like it was enough to wipe the lake out. If it continues then this will be bad. I got there on wednesday and fished the north end of the lake alot of dead fish there. By sunday it was pretty hard to spot dead fish. seemed like it may have been isolated to a creek down on the south end from what i have heard.

so if you want to put it that way yes. but I don't think they are trying to hurt anyone. they work damn hard for their money and that's how they feed there families.the reality is, there is still fish and most of them are very good at catching them and they need you to come fish.and most will work their a$$ off to put on fish.so they don't want to say or give the impression that anything is less than ideal.it's nothing against the guides or anyone person it's human nature to try and protect your livlihood.they have alot more at risk than me I feel for them it's a tough deal...rick

I have seen a total fish kill of a very small lake. They hauled 18 wheeler loads of dead fish out of there. They fish we are seeing right now are just a drop in the big bucket at Lake Whitney. All we can do is hope this thing goes aside quickly .... I for one will continue to fish this great fishery .... It holds some record size fish ......

I agree........the rains should help a lot. I just hate to see anyone speculate about any lake unless they have physically been out on the lake. I am all about honesty, and know rumors are useless.
I am sure Clay and/or Randy will tell it like it is as they both seem like stand up guys! It doesnt make much since to mislead fellow fisherman and I think both of their reputations speak for thereself on here.
I know the TSA Tournament didnt produce the big fish like I figured it would, but I bet it was the weather......not GA!
I too believe Whitney will be just fine in no time and I personally will be fishing it soon. I cant speak for the condition of the lake myself as I have not fished it a month or so because of wind more than anything. BUT......I do have pics and videos on my phone of VERY RECENT catches and they have been good! I know without a doubt the lake has been producing BIG HEALTHY FISH in the past week!

I don't thing the striper guides here anyways have the long term interest of the lake in mind....rick Excuse me!!! Your right...you don't think! Why in the H. E. double L.L. wouldn't we have the long term interest in mind or at HEART!!! Your mouth overloads your &^%$ my friend. I for one have roots that extend back to the construction of the dam and prior. I'm sorry, (sort of) but you hit a nerve. I am the one that has kept the biologist for Whitney informed of the kills. FIRST HAND!!! The last kill was a significant kill, hit Soldiers bluff....80 feet of water....another kill, little Rocky 40 to 80' of water.....Big Rocky....same......... Isolated to those areas....yet were catching fish in 4' to 7' of water from up near White Bluff, Cedron, Whitney and Towash, all over the lake!!!!!!!! Do really think if most people are catching limits of Stripers in 4 to 7 ft. of water that the kills in the deeper waters wiped the lake out then you just don't have a clue as too just how many fish Whitney has in it nor where most of the fish are during spring patterns! When you see me retire or change lakes then you will know just how bad it is. The fish that where killed at Soldiers where blown across the lake by STRONG SOUTH WINDS and stacked up along shore lines and scattered across the lake making it look worse than it actually was. Bad, heck yes, any kill on any lake is bad. But with the natural spawns we had in 2007 and in 08, the BIG FISH that survived the previous kills, yes, 20 plus pound stripers that didn't just grow up after 2003, 04 and 05 that are still being caught, plus all the stockings the past few years........Whitney was hurt but it was mainly a certain age class, I feel confident that there are still a lot of fish in the Lake. Yes WHITNEY HAS THE FLU!!!! But it is GETTING WHAT THE DR. ORDERED JUST IN TIME, it should rise 10 in the next day or 2 and will do 2 things no3 things, no 4!!!! 1. Bring in much needed fresh water to dilute any G.A. that may be left in the lake, although I believe it is over anyway. 2. Bring in sediment and nutrients from the rivers and creeks to help combat the G.A. 3. Bring Hybrids from Lake Graham, Bring fish from P.K. and Fish from Granbury!!!! 4. With the gates open at Whitney will give it a good flushing as well I have been in contact with the biologist and will continue to do so, I need to contact them again and offer an observation that another Guide and myself where discussing. A certain weed/grass in the creeks that the bait fish and game fish are relating to during this kill and if maybe, just maybe it is releasing something in the water that maybe, just may be combating the G.A., wish full thinking and there are a hell of a lot smarter people than me testing, fighting and working to find a cure for G.A. Ill close in saying for myself, I my friend am not a liar and speak the truth to my clients. That you can put in your pipe and smoke it! I also have a great love for Lake Whitney as a fishery and as one of the most scenic beautiful places in TEXAS! My Father, Grandfather and Uncles were born and raised in the area, they all worked in construction on the dam, and my wife was runner up in a Lake Whitney pageant! I wont say what year to keep me out of trouble!!! I have deep roots in the Lake and a great love and concern for her. So before you start pouting off that (I don't thing the striper guides here anyways have the long term interest of the lake in mind....rick) you need to get to know us better!
