live in the neighborhood at rebecca creek, fish 4 times last week,. its hit or miss. some days end up with 20+ fish some days 5 pretty much the same for the rest of the locals. cant be a winner every day. if you are daring, a gentleman was sleeping on the bank sunday morning said that he dropped in at rebecca creek bridge he thought it would take a couple hours to reach the second pool aka first rapids that is 2 miles i know this because it was my deer lease for 4 yrs. it took all of 30 minutes very swift be careful !!! after a cup of coffee we both stuck 20 each we both earned them. started guiding this year one on one trips send reply to fish

I measured it out on google earth. It is a little over 4 miles from the Rebecca Creek ramp. USMC_Gy_09 I'll send you a message with some other information that you should find useful.

Fair enough. I was referring to the stretch of river about a mile or so upstream where the river does have a steeper gradient or change in elevation via rocks and drop-offs. By definition, this is still a set of rapids; however, I'm not saying this is class IV whitewater.

I imagine that the whites are stacked up in this area staging and getting ready to head up to the next set of large rapids. Last year, this was pretty much the end of the road for the whites...Caught some stripers mixed in as well.

Well, I'll be there tomorrow around 8:00 although my fishfinder didn't get here. Looking at the weather details it might actually be better to go Wednesday less windy and a little warmer. But I've got the itch. Maybe I can talk the old lady into both days, she's usually cool with it.

Where in the heck was he sleeping on the bank at? That is a little more daring than I care for at this point. Man, I'd like to catch a striper. Striper and redfish are on my to catch list this year.

I'll take all the info I can get at this point. If nothing else this will be good practice for the big run.

I saw El Guapo, too bad I didn't see any fish. I went all up and down the creek and a little ways up the river. I am getting to know the area even if I can't catch anything!!!!

all the way up to the "mansion" and as far as about 2 miles downstream from RC. most fish came within 1/2 mile of RC.

What depth do we need to look for? And when trolling which shore line should we focus on?

well, I focus heavily on staying IN the river channel and not losing too many lures.

With the boat in gear and moving, I usually cast out and let the spool run for a good 10-15 count. You can hold the rods, but it is much easier to have them in rod holders off the sides of your boat. I loosen up my drag quite a bit. If you get snagged, and you WILL, you want the drag to let line out so you don't break off. When the rod doubles over you know it's either a fish or a tree.

This is a great way of finding the fish. It is not uncommon to hook up 2 at once when you get into em good.

I have been up there twice in the last week and limited out both times trolling minnows. I tried the crankbaits but had very little success they seem to like the live bait better.

I've taken some clients up the river several times in the last week and also have limited out on minnows although we caught several on Gulp Minnows.

Can someone explain to me how you troll minnows? We'll be going up there next weekend and were planning on anchoring up and putting out some minnows and casting out some rostertails.

Are you trolling real, live minnows? ...I am curious as well... What is the technique for trolling minnows? In my experience, they "helicopter" and don't stay true.
