I heard from a friend that some good catches of whites are being pulled out of rebecca creek. My fishing partner and i are going to go next weekend. This will be are first time fishing away from the main lake. I'm wondering if anyone could give us a few tips so we can have a successful day on the water.
thanks-
skeeter

There is another thread or two talking about Rebecca Creek. If you launch from boat ramp #11 then you go left to the main river and turn right to go upriver. There is a house on the right a little ways up and that is the first set of "rapids". I guess they are mainly catching them on large minnows right now, although I am sure they will start hitting shad raps, rat-l-traps, and other lures when it warms up a little. Stop by one of the local bait stores up there if you can and I am sure they can give you more specifics. I am planning on going up there tomorrow or Tuesday. All I have is a little one man pontoon so I can't really troll around a lot but I'll let you know how it goes.

I don't know, I'll find out when I go. I am hoping it isn't too far or I am going to be sore. I went down to the Nueces river on Thursday but only went upriver a little way and I was a little tired. I caught a bunch so that makes it worth the effort.

There are a couple of shallow places just up from the ramp but the "rapids" are more than a mile up stream. Once they get going while bass will be catchable throughout most of the river from half a mile downstream of the ramp up to the rapids.

I've fished the Guadalupe upstream of Canyon Lake 3 times in the last 10 days. With the mild weather we have had the water temperature in the river has been staying in the mid to upper 50's. The white bass have moved up the river to where the current is but I think there are still many white bass that have not moved to the river yet.

I'm in a 18.5' bass boat and I'm able to get my boat a little over 4 miles upstream of Rebecca Creek. I think USMC_Gy_09 is talking about the large white house that is a few hundred yards downstream of the first set of rapids. That house is close to 4 miles upriver from the Rebecca Creek ramp. Guys with smaller boats and kayaks are fighting the current are able to go upstream farther than I have.

OK, I got information that the rapids are about 4 miles upstream from the Rebecca creek launch, probably the same place your bassboat can make it to. And I can attest to the fact that if it is windy then the wind gets tunneled through there and makes paddling that much more difficult. Entirely too far and hard for me to paddle in my pontoon.

I may go a little ways up the river just for the heck of it and try, or I am thinking about actually going up the creek itself. If the creek is still running after the rains then the current may draw a few up that way. You never know until you try right?

Anyhow, I didn't make it today, I am waiting on one of those fishfinders that you can calmp on to try out. If nothing else I will atleast be able to see how deep it is. When I went down stream last time, it seemed like there were a couple of holes that were 20 or so feet deep. I'll post here with what I find out.

I feel that 4 miles might be a slight exaggeration. Last year, I paddled my canoe from Reb Creek launch to the rapids solo...

Check it out on google earth. If it's not four miles it's darn close, give or take a couple hundred yards.

Also last year the lake was down and the rapids were only about a mile upstream so you would be correct with that statement, but the lake is now full.

I'd like to hear from somebody who has GPS'ed it. Measuring it on Google maps has it a little over 6 km, so it probably is close to 4 miles. If I had a canoe or kayak I would probably give it a shot, just leave early in the morning.

I launched one morning and some guys on kayaks were launching the same time. Now I figure they had to have stopped to fish along the way, but I was headed back to the launch around 10 a.m. with two limits of fish and they were just getting there.

Paddle against the current going and against the prevailing southerly winds on the way back makes it kind of brutal, and four miles each way might seem like a bit more. Take plenty of water to hydrate and being young in shape will help also!

Well I guess we will just take the john boat, and get there faster.
