indeed...i'm gonna try this out jus for fun with some frozen bait shrimp from the gas station since they're so cheap

I dont know about red fish but i know som old timers that mix big red with wheaties cereal and mash it up into a paste for catfish bait.

This is very interesting; I've heard some crazy ones, but I think this one takes the cake, but I'll give it a try, that's for sure.

Spoke to a guide named Tom Hall this a.m. He is the guide that first mentioned it in the TF&G magazine. He said that he soaks the FRESH DEAD SHRIMP in the Big Red for 30 minutes and only does so in the winter. He does it only in the winter because it attracts all types of fish especially REDs and DRUM. He uses it in the winter primarily so as to keep his baits from being too attractive to "trash fish". He says trout don't seem to care for the vanilla smell, but reds and drum - LOOK OUT.

Since croaker and whiting are in the drum family, I'd bet it would attract them as well.

since i have only cought two reds this year i will try it lol its not gonna hurt much!!

Maybe it's for fish that don't like the taste of shrimp!!! LOL
