i gotta say if you know the classic is coming to that lake and you dont like lots of boats don't go i mean i wouldn't go fishing when they were havin a classic or probably any other BASS tournament i mean your gonna have lots of spectator boats so just put off your trip if you can do you want some guy comin to your job getting mad at you for being in his supposed spot

Think of it like this. You're sittin in a bar talkin to group of young ladies (hoping 1 of them will "take the bait") and suddenly in walks the "Most interesting Man in the World" from the Dos Equis commercials. He asks you if he may kindly have a few words with the same group of ladies. What do ya do?

You've seen the commercials...the guy's always got 3 or 4 gorgeous women dripping off of him! I'm gonna slide over a stool and take notes. I might learn a technique that puts ladies...'er I mean fish in the livewell for years to come.

I wonder how much Jeff Kreit would have paid a couple of local anglers to go sit on KVD's spot last weekend? You've gotta think it would have been worth at least a couple 100k. That kind of smack would be hard to turn down....

I may or may not give up a spot I was fishing to a pro fishing a tournament. It would depend on who it was in part and how they approached me. Course I usually don't have any spots they are going to be interested in.

The one thing I don't like is the perception that I should be under some kind of obligation to move since these guys make their living from fishing. They chose fishing as a way to make a living and just like any other job there are obstacles and competition that go with it. Sorta like being in line somewhere to buy concert tickets and one of the scalpers asks to cut in line ahead of you so they can be sure and get more tickets. Getting those tickets and reselling them is how they make their living, I am only there for fun so should I let them in line ahead of me? Pretty doubtful....

The only way I'd move is if Ike started spittin on me.

Very interesting question. I would probably let them have it. Heck I have give up spots to guys in a little local tournaments.
I sure wouldn't let someone come up and scream at me to get off of his spot. I might leave but I would make about ten circles stirring up the water. Prolly not but I like to think mean.

Yes you can use a flyrod but you have to wear white sandals and we all know you can't do that until after Easter.

Like has been said, if the dude comes up and ask nicely, I would have no problem moving. I am not saying do it for a reward but you never know, these Elite guys might throw you a handful of bad @$$ lures or a rod or something.

who gives a flip how long you've been buying your license!! The guys are fishing to provide for their families! This is their JOB. Simply pathetic and unsportsman!!

No one cares how long you've been buying your license. Don't know how that is pertinent to anything.

It it were not for the general public buying gear these guys promote they would not even exist.

Then stop buying the gear. You sound as if these guys come in, steal your lunch money, and sleep with your woman. Get a grip, guy. Everyone has the same right to it, but on a tournament weekend, I dunno if it would be the smartest idea to be on the same waters fishing. Those tournaments bring alot of extra boat traffic, and the hassle just isn't quite worth it. I don't know why anyone would hold a local tournament at the same time as a professional tournament, but that problem is with the idiot scheduling things.

Yes, a fly rod can be used, as long as it complies with all the rules. The problem is that fly rods are consistently outfished using other methods. In fact, fly fishing has adopted much of the new technology found in casting and spinning applications in order to keep up. There is very little doubt these guys would outfish a fly fisherman not just consistently, but 100% of the time. Fly fishing is just not a practical way of catching large quantities of large fish.

Just like everyone else said I would move if they asked me to but if they started yelling and getting a attitude because there a pro I would sit right there and keep casting. They still make money from sponsers an they they have the same rights as I do doesn't matter how many camareas they have.

They actually had a pro. fly angler try to out fish Scott Martin on the Scott Martin Challenge and he couldn't beat Scott.

you guys are nuts. If anyone is fishing for money give them the spot. You people that said they wouldn't give up the spot are most likely the same jackholes that come tie up to a stump 5 feet away from me. Or go 70 over the point im fishing

To the last three posts, I tip my hat to y'all...

I have learned through the years that fishing is my way of spending time with God's gifts, but it isn't nearly as fun unless I'm sharing the experience...

I undoubtedly let them have the spot. We scheduled a trip to Fork on what happened to be the Toyota Big Bass Classic one weekend and my dad and I were C-rigging a point with flooded Timber and a creek channel. Ike and about three other boats that followed him show up. Ike starts fishing the other side of the point so my dad and I reeled in and watched him for 2 hour or so. Simply remarkable how good these guys are we had been catching peanuts and he was whacking big juicy slot fish on a crankbait

Yeah I would move for any one of them, even Ish and I cant stand him, it is just common courtesy to let them make there living. Any of you guys that wouldnt well your just being jerks. Just think of the other lakes in that area at that time....you would have it all to yourself cause everyone is there following the pros.
