Hi all. I have doing a bunch of reading about Rebecca Creek, and the Guadalupe River right before it spills into Canyon Lake. After much driving around (and getting a bit lost) I found a boat ramp that was off FM-306 and down Tanglewood Drive in the town of Canyon. I believe the name of the ramp was named Boat Ramp #11, but the ramp was closed, and it didnt look like anything more than a swamp. Am I in the wrong area here? My aim is to find some nice flowing water to wade in to intercept the spring whites when they run into shallower flowing water. Google Earth looks promising, but the water directly at the boat ramp looks more like a drainage ditch. I know its a bit early still, but I just wanted to try a different spot this year instead of my usual spot in Marble Falls, And I dont think the drought has been conducive to having the fish run up to Reimers Ranch.

Thanks Mike,
I found this on TP&W "Rebecca Creek boat ramp is located in the river, and anglers with small boats can easily access the area without crossing open water. Off State Highway (SH) 306 (past the lake) turn south on Eagle Rock Drive which becomes Tanglewood Trail. Go 2.3 miles, and take the first road on the right past Chapel in the Cove. Rebecca Creek boat ramp is at the end of this road. Most anglers head upstream to an area called the rapids but other areas can be good and less crowded."
I was just surprised that any whits whould make the pilramage up this far. I suppose, by working downstream (left) I can reach the confluence with the Guadalupe?

If we get any rain and the levels go up, I guess they will go up pretty far. Kyle46 said it would be easier to wade down from the Rebecca Creek road crossing of the Guad if the water levels stay the same. I don't know if it would be good or bad for waders without a boat if the water goes up but I am always willing to try.

How is the parking situation on the Rebecca Creek Road crossing? I just dont want to park, spend the day wading dwnstream to intercept some whites, only to trudge back upstream to find my car towed....

Would there be any other reasonable alternatives if you don't have a boat? I don't know the area but was hoping to head up there if/when the whites run. I have only heard from a couple of people on the forum about where to fish for them in this area.

not much public land to bank fish around there. there is a way to get to one of the gravel bars by going through an older subdivision off of rebecca creek road. the entrance is at the south cattle guard crossing. you follow the road back to the "private" park and you can walk down to the water and fish. good luck.
It's good to laugh!

I will do that. I am "taking a break" right now after finishing my stint with the Marines. I am pretty much free most days unless the wife finds something for me to do or the kids got something going at school and such. I will hit you up after these rains come through. Hopefully they will improve conditions a little.

Like Hendo said, it would be a long wade from the crossing to the area known as the "rapids"....but if the water levels stay where they are at, or get higher, the whites will go as far as rebecca creek crossing. We have caught them recently in deeper pools above the crossing. These obviously got stuck from spawning in past years. If you put in at launch 11, go upstream for the whites in a few weeks. You can catch them at various areas on the way up to the first gravel bars. And if they spawn heavy this year, they congregate in large numbers up river in the areas that are shallow, gravel, and quicker water.
