I can't tell you how badly I want to paint his boat red and put a big white stripe down the side! You could not have come up with a better name! That is friggin hilarious! The Todd said you were "funny", I just always thought he was talking about your sexuality...

I can see "THE HAMMER" as we speak freaking out right now. Sitting in front of the computer trying to think of what to say, while the Diet Dr. Peppers flow in abundance. His mind perplexed at how he must defend his title and the time and energy that must be taken to put together a JIG and a performance that can only be compared to that of ALI vs Frazier, The CATCH, Jordan last shot in the Finals, and Mr. Octobers, clutch performances over what some might say are the best Texas has to offer. (or atleast the best Jasper has to offer)
He is torn between the jigs heating in his oven, the crankbait that just won't run right, the rod that is not leveled right and the TFF.
Oh how he wishes his new jig will flow through the grass only to be eatin by a bigg bass momma only to be hooked just right while the new designed jig head turns at the perfect point untill pure perfection has been achieved.

The Crankbait that now sings a vibrating tune as it is reeled under the water at the ideal speed, just ticking the bottom and deflecting off a stump as he new it would when he spent hours sanding one by one strokes until the crankbait out of nowhere spoke to him "I'm Ready".

The Rod that some might say, to the untrained eye, "is fish ready" when it has not yet had the magic touch of the "The Hammer". The endles hours sculpting that rod till it takes all human error out of the equation, and becomes Majic in the hands of "THE HAMMER.

What to do? Where to go? How to do it?

All the questions he must ask himself today as he perpares himself for his next conquest.

THE TODD was interviewed this morning by the puddlecaster concerning the upcoming SUPER TEAM TOURNAMENT on Toledo Bend.

I have an inside line at the PC and got an early transcript of the interview. It seems that The Todd will attempt to break his own tournament record of 13450 casts with his 9'10" swimbait rod. With an average cast being 139 yards that is 7.642 miles of flourocarbon retrieved(with 8 oz swimbait attached) in one regulation tournament day.

When asked how he expects to carry on his top 3 finisher streak while power casting at this pace....."Its really simple, if I don't get enough reaction strikes....I'm sure I'll snag a good limit during the day". "Snagging is legal as long as you are not sight fishing". "You may not believe this but I snag 3 out of every 5 fish I catch during competition".....an amazing admission by THE TODD.

Now we know why he does not look for feeding fish....he just casts every square inch of a given cove and gets what he gets.....in freek'incredible. What a concept. You read it here first.

I'll bet it is really something to see when you happen up on The Todd during competition and see that 10 foot rod whipping in a literal blur as he goes to work with this "fire and rip" technique.

The interviewer was spellbound by this time and was in the middle of asking The Todd another question about his tackle and he just cut her off in mid-sentence and out of nowhere asked her if she knew anything about his workout regimen. Apparently he has a special exercise (he calls cast crunching?!?!), and told her he spends every single waking hour between tournaments "crunching" his arms. I personally wondered at times this last year why is right arm looks like a volley ball and all blown up and contorted like a carnival balloon.

Anyway, there will be a follow boat at the tournament to document the attempted casting record....don't miss it. Fin N' Feather this coming Saturday morning. THE TODD will be at sign-up in the morning....signing autographs, showing off his casting set up, coaching correct form in arm crunches, and generally cutting you off if you try to tell a bigger tale.....been there, done that, better and faster than them, etc.

the hammer

This post is out of control. Speaking of' THE TODD, a song from the past comes to mind. "Sometimes I dream that he is me, I wish I could be, like TODD! Somtimes I dream that I could cast, like TODD! Sometimes I dream that I could fish, like TODD." I think he and Larry Bird made a McDonalds commercial together about trick casting.

Hey! Welcome to the crucifixion Dillon! It's the true definition of the Rayburn atmosphere...If your feeling aren't hurt when you get here - they will be when you leave.

*******************MAJOR NEWS ALERT******************************

This just in off the News Room.

Chris M aka "The Shadow" "Rattle Trap King" "RAYBURN TOLEDO LIVINGSTON TEXOMA STUD" "ELITE QUALIFIER" "I GET NO HELP FROM ANYONE" "I FISH THE TEUR" "EVERYONE FOLLOWS ME ON THE WATER"

Is fishing next years events ALONE. Thats right ALONE. Now we all know he can fish but this is taking it a little far. Since he cashes a check in 106% of all tournaments he fishes he decided that this would be his best option for competiton. When asked why are you planning on fishing alone, he replied "I feel I need to step up my game, every year it gets easier for me and I must do something so that I do not stay complacent."

WOW! I must say I look UP to him to have that competitive fire, to challenge anyone anywhere on any given lake. I heard from someone, not to mention names, that in two or three years he will start letting people combine their weights so they will have a shot a beating the best.

His partners would not comment on record, but in a small slightly lit room in an undiclosed location, they all agreed that this was a good thing they were tired of not being allowed to fish and only being able to hold the net all day.

I'm not sure how this will work out in Draw tournaments, but I've made some phone calls to co-anglers, and they all said they had no problem with this at all. Most said that it would be a privledge and honor to sit in a John boat being pulled by his boat all day just to be in the pressence of greatness.

This will change the face of fishing forever and the Face of Fishing will be a SHADOW.

Oh my god! That was awesome! The egos are flowing now!!!! I think you have a future as a writer, well your at least as good as that Aesop writer that wrote all those popular kids fables! "THE TODDS Fishing Fables". Just remember "THE TODDS" humble motto, "20 pounds and 20 bites maybe good for some, but to be in THE TODDS league you have to be a 30/30 guy"!
