2nd p3ripperfw, some scupper holes are not in very ideal locations for something to crawl up in!

I have experienced snakes will sometimes try to get in the kayak. My partner and I was fishing at Aquilla and one popped his head over the side of my partner's yak when he was changing tackle close to the bank. He hit it with his rod and it moved on. Also was the first time I saw a man scream so much. We saw many snakes on that lake and haven't been back since. That was the only time one got that close.

I don't like snakes either. I think the only bad one is the moccassin (hope I spelled it right), the others in Texas are not harmful from what I found out on the internet.

Just BOP'em on the head.

I've had'em follow us/me back to my boat or my kayak after wade fishing.

They will climb in Power Boats as well, so just be prepared and deal with it !!

Invite them in the yak, offer a drink of your flask and get em so drunk they pass out.

Drop em off on the shore and cover em with shaving cream for all their friends to see.

As a matter of fact there are no "poisonous" snakes in Texas. Or anywhere else for that matter. There are some venomous ones though.

I don't have all the answers, but I'm a quick learner!

"After all the one place you almost always want to be is on a trout stream with a fly rod. Once you're actually there, it seems unreasonable to impose further conditions."

noidea paddle faster. come on bro, if youve had your bass boat long enough you probably have had somthing slithery make way like it wanted in. same with kayaking, stuff happens when your fish just paddle away or make a stand.

There are over 100 some species and subspecies of snakes found inside the borders of Texas, but only 16 of them can make the Texas poisonous snakes "hot" list. These "hot" or venomous snakes can be easily grouped into four main species: Copperhead, Cottonmouths, Rattlesnakes and Coral Snakes.

Now multiply those four by say 100's and what do you get? A nightmare. I hate snakes. And as others would say the only good snake is a DEAD snake!

The final member of the Texas poisonous snakes' hot list is the Coral Snake. This member of the Cobra species is found mostly near the coast or shorelines. This very venomous snake is often mistaken for the similarly colored, yet harmless King snake. Coral snakes have red and yellow bands that overlap and touch. Texans often use the saying, "Red on Yellow kills a Fellow! But red on black, friend of Jack."
